Vitali's fight vs Lewis gets stopped but Fury allowed to continue?

The doctor fix was in, they were always going to let Fury beat his opponent while blinded in one eye, the dirty dogs! (btw apparently it was deemed a clean cut fairly easy to repair, a bit different to Vitali's ragged one).
Great to see everyone cares so much about Fury's well being though, wanting a fight stopped even though the fighter still had the capability to win! I bet you wanted Algieri stopped versus Provodnokov too, when the living wart appeared on his face and he was one-eyed against one of the biggest punchers in the division.

 

Even if vitali HAD won ..at what cost??

fury knows that boxing is a business full of cold people. he knows that his health was on the line and they didn't stop the fight because that would mean $200,000,000 down the drain from the wilder rematch. fury is lucky he doesn't have permanent damage or that wallin had bad stamina because he could have been permanently blind right now or gotten knocked out cold.

we watch boxing but at the same time we know it's stupid and there's no need for it.

 

Vitali could have gone blind in that eye if the fight had continued.

 

I am amazed that cut didn't get much worse and the fight was stopped due to it. But they got the bleeding under control and it didn't get much worse. The other thing that is unusual is how badly he was cut with one punch. I have to believe he had some bad scar tissue beforehand. The only other fight I can recall was when JCC was fighting DLH and it was like the first serious punch landed cut him wide open. Many speculated the cut was pre-existing.

 

I don't think blindness is the primary issue from a bad cut. Blindness comes usually from direct blows to the eye itself, affecting the retina and the fluid in the eye.

Yeah I just rewatched. Really startling how non-dangerous that punch seemed compared to the damage it caused.
