Vitali took a young, powerful champion and rendered him completely ineffective. Made him quit. A fight that was supposed to be entertaining became a clinical beatdown by a guy who hadn't fought a single round in 4 years. Unbelievable.
Vitali is a beast...the Klitschko brothers are by far the elite of the division. Who realistically can defeat Vitali? I can't anyone beating him...not anytime soon.
No not unbelievable...........that was what I knew would happen! Just that! Peter got a beating of his lifetime. He was taken to school by Vitali. Peter NEVER had or will have a chanse against Vitali.....never. He can only fight one way, and that is coming forward. But doing so against Vitali means that you get his jab into you face again and again. I had the feeling (and I am positive that Vitali would agree) that Vitali could stop Peter any time he wanted. He just wanted to give him a beating first and then take him out. Peter the coward knew that one more round in the ring with Vitali would meen that he would get knocked out big time. Vitali is the best heavyweight by far, and no one belongs in the ring with him! Regards fro Copenhagen... the new Capital of Europe!! Boris
It was an amazing performance. No one walks into the ring after years away, with all the unavoidable ringrust- and simply destroys, outclasses the champ. I've never seen it happen before.
Vitali can only be stopped by a very lucky punch / by injury. He was and still is a true ring warrior with underrated technique, underrated punching abilities (underrated even though he has the highest (T)KO ratio in boxing today) and he still - after 4 years of absence - would win against anyone. All the "Vitali hasn't fought anybody" threads are bull****. The fight against Peter was a demonstration of his abilities. Peter not only was weak, Vitali also was very strong and made him look like a fool.
Vitali was the boss last night... I'm impressed - were much... I really hope he takes 2-4 more fights - just to make some destruction in the HW devision... I would LOVE to see - Haye vs Vitali... Dahm, this big guy really ruled.... One thing I really love when watching Vitali is that we know fore sure he can take a punch (which is not the case for his brother - at least not in the same way) - and it makes it even more relaxable. I would also love to se valuez vs vitali - that one would be very difficuilt for vitali I think.....
If Peter had not quit in his corner, and Peter told his corner to stop the fight, listen to it on Video, well, if Peter had not quit, Vitali would have stopped him anyway. Peter had blood pouring out of his mouth.
After the fight he had both hands in the ice bucket...perhaps he hurt his right hand. Also it is easier to jab, when one is old, and he is old, don't forget that, and the right has so much futher to travel. Joe Louis said wehn I was young, the opening appeared and I hit him, when I got old the opening appeared, I said hit him, and my fist didn't move. Look at Old Holms fights, jab there, right not.
Not unbelievable to some of us who saw this coming. Stylistic nightmare for Peter, and Vitali is who he is: * 92% KO %. Highest in HW history (35 in 38 fights) * Never trailed on the scorecards at any time in any of his fights * Only lost because of injury (torn rotator cuff, nasty cut) The bottom line is this: If Vitali makes it to the fight and is not injured, he beats you and knocks you out. That is what happens more than 9 out of 10 times. Sam Peter is far from an exceptional fighter. He's good, but limited. And Vitali dispatched of him as he has many, many others. The ring rust was not an issue (Vitali has around 250 amateur and pro fights; you don't lose that accumulated skill even after a few years), and he didn't get injured. The only question was would he run out of gas because of age. He didn't, and he thrashed Peter.
