Wait a minute, he threw an average of 100-200 punches per round? That would be insane for a SHW. I am gonna have to ask for a reference for that, as well as how many landed.
I was honestly thinking for a moment I was still asleep and had dreamt that Mendy had written the same thing... twice... after being told he wasnt replying to anyones point.
He threw a little more, but nowhere near 200. Sanders: 59 punches per round Lewis: 72 punches per round, landing 26.... Briggs: 60 punches per round Arreola: 80 punches per round This indeed makes him a volume puncher and denys his power punching attributes, which I think were good.
https://i.makeagif.com/media/7-15-2015/6ghXXn.gif What do you see here? I see Vitali staggering about like a drunk before and after he got hit. I suppose Vitali taking that uppercut would seem impressive to somebody who never seen another Lewis fight , but Lewis hit many guys with that same uppercut and they didn't stagger around like a drunk like Vitali was. Also consider that because of Vitali's height , that uppercut wouldn't have been as hard the the ones that hit Mercer , Holy and Morrison. The power diminishes the more it travels upwards. Thats just simple physics , k? Speaking of Morrison , he got hit with a Lewis uppercut so hard , the sound was like a shotgun blast. Granted he hit the canvas for a split second , but once he got up , he went on the attack almost immediately. Vitali was so out of it from a weaker Lewis uppercut , he could not form any attack at all , cos he was hanging on for dear life and staggering all over the ring. Morisson who is known for being fragile did not need need to hold on at all , and that suggests that Morrison took the Lewis uppercut better than Vitali did. And a harder one from a prime , faster Lewis at that. @Mendoza won't like these facts ,but he's just going to have to deal with them.
Look the Lewis fight was brutal. Both men fought with guts and skill. The hard facts are that Vitali was shredded as he never was before or since. His cuts were horrific. Both guys looked exhausted. The 38 year old Lewis looked like he was getting a second wind and was landing the harder, more flush shots on a near blind Vitali. It was what it was .. like Manila, no one knows for sure what would have happened with one more round but we did not have one .. Vitali did show a terrific chin. This content is protected (3:40 on )
