Watching some of his fights, like against Johnson and Chisora - he doesn't appear to hit THAT hard. They don't have the same impact a big right hand from Wlad or even Haye would have.

And yet he has a high KO rate and does a lot of damage to his opponent's faces, like Adamek and Briggs.

What do you make of the way he punches? Sometimes I watch him and think "if you put even half your body behind these punches, you would have this guy on his ass"

Against Johnson, it was as if he was just throwing punches to keep Johnson occupied and so he couldn't land anything on Vitali.

I think this applies to the recent Vitali, rather than the early one who had more speed.

I think it's because he has a very high work rate so he probably lands more punches than Wlad does which results in a KO eventually. Wlad is more likely to one punch snooze you but he's reluctant to throw.

Vitali has never had textbook punching technique, he has always been kinda swinging his punches into the face of his opponents..
Prime Vitali could take guys out with his power, the current one has to wear them down.

He rarely stops opponents through singular big shots or because they have no legs, he has a high stoppage rate because of fights like Adamek, Sanders, Arreola, he eventually wears his opponent down, outboxes them, and it gets to a point that they are just eating shots without reply, so the ref stops the fight.

A lot of TKO's/RTD's, not as many actually down for the 10 count KO's.

Combination of high workrate, superior reach, decent power & good skills mean he's often in a situation where it becomes a beatdown though he doesn't really have that big punch needed to put the guys away.

I like the way he throws his hook (or maybe its more like a jab?) but it looks like he pimp slaps his opponents :yep

Vitali has a high work rate to you..?

    :rofl

You must be bolted to the sofa..

Prima Carnera threw WAY MORE punches than Vitali..was faster...and fought better moving foreward..

He certainly was TOUGHER...he got off the canvas and took what was coming to him LIKE A MAN....:deal

The dreaded Chris Byrd made Vitali TAP OUT...

    Carnera would **** Chris Byrd..

Look at Vitali in defeat...now....compare that to Carnera in defeat...

    Thats all you gotta do

You have to take into account that Viltali changes his style more to fit his opponent than either Wladimir or Haye. Against Johnson he threw a lot because Johnson - while smaller - had a longer reach. By going offensive, Vitali kept him pinned back on defense the entire fight. He had a completely different approach vs. e.g. Arreola.

Please. Carnera outweighed most of his opponents by 60 pounds and STILL managed to accumulate 14 losses. Not to mention persistent speculation that he was controlled by the mob and his entire career was a fraud. Even so, he was knocked down 11 times by Max Bear before being stopped - Vitali Klitschko has never been knocked down in his professional boxing career.

    STOP it....:rofl

Vitali is fighting people they pulled from the crowd...he's not changing his style to do ****..

    He ALWAYS FIGHTS THE SAME

Scary...flinching...clinching...pawing...against some of the shittiest fighters EVER...

Vitali drags his punches to his WAIST like a fresh rookie..:deal

    Dereck Chisora...Juan Carlos Gomez...Haye...Purrity..Byrd...ect ect

NONE of those guy would get a title shot...they wouldn't be around long enough..

he has that weird but one of a kind style that's impossible to copy

most of Vit's KO's come late, as a result of the volume of his punches landed on his opponent

Although not a 1 punch KO artist, Vitali consistantly hits hard for the full 12 rounds. Shannon Briggs stated about that he hadnt been hit as hard over twelve rounds as he had been against Vitali..... and his resume shows he's been in with some of the biggest hitters in his era.

    Pretty much this.
Vitali hits with a good amount of power for a full 12 at a high frequency.
Where Wlad and even Haye will mixup the power behind their punches.

He just grinds people into the ground, you can see it after the first few round they just run out of gass because they constantly get hit.
Especially that hybrid left hook/jab/uppercut he uses when people movein on him where he sidesteps them.

Prime Vitali though pre injury when he did loadup could generate quite a lot of power, not as much as Wlad but still a heavy hitter.
The fact he does so much damage with arm punches even now is a testimony on how heavy handed he really is.

Big part of his style that often gets overlooked i think is his timing, much like Kostya Tszyu Vitali seems to have very little problem hitting people much faster than him.
Take the Hide and more recently Adamek fights for example.

That might have something to do with Lewis knocking him out in 5.
