No they are not, they suck their garbage, their not highly skilled, their not in shape. Henry Cooper would beat those three easily. Those three boxers you mentioned are C level boxers, they are one of the worse contenders in modern HW history.

Modern heavyweights are not evolving, if they were they would get the basic fundamentals down. SKILLS wins fights, Peter and Arreola certainly lack those credentials. Gomez was just a cruiserweight who lacked power and was WAY past his prime.

    Sure.

He should have stepped up to the elite 5 years earlier instead of padding his resume and boosting is "oh so impressive" KO%.

At age 28 Holyfield was 24-0 and winning the Undisputed HW Title.
At age 28 Lennox was 22-0 and defending his WBC title.

At age 28 Vitali was 23-0 and fighting the likes of Ismael Youla and Francesco Spinelli.

He should have been fighting the likes of Lennox and Evander. The fanboys lick his balls for what he is doing now, but he robbed you of these potentially great matches. He chose instead to wait until the truly great fighters of his era were shot or nearly shot.

Well, all of the "great" fighters except Chris Byrd. :yep

He has made a good ending for his career.

He, arguably, had a better career than Wladimir since October 2008 (the month of his comeback to the sport).

Since October 2007, Vitali fought Peter, Gomez, Arreola and Johnson.

Since October 2007, Wladimir fought Rahman and Chagaev.

Wladimir has, probably, the better win in Chagaev, but Vitali has fought more and, in general, better fighters.

Bad comparison really. I believe each era should be held on its own fighters for fighters because the weight and size has changed so much.

I dont think you can call Peter Gomez and Arreola B+ fighters in any other era but todays.
If you had fighters with their skill set in the mid 90's or late 80's they would be considered C- level fighters. Overall his opposition has been bad because there are no good fighters out there.

I think everyone can agree Lewis was not at his peak when he faced Vitali and that should be proof enough of how bad this new era of fighters is considering how Vitali dominates, yet he struggled quite a bit with a washed up Lewis.

Oh, beg my ****ing pardon. Yes, at 28 he won the WBOgus title. The WBOgus title which, at the time, was held by the likes of 'Huggin' Henry Akinwande, and was being contested by the likes of Willi Fisher and Damon Reid.

    Who?

    EXACTLY.

Thanks for reinforcing my point. :good

While other fighters at a similar stage of their careers were fighting elite opposition for LEGIT titles, Vitali was wasting his prime fighting Ed Mahone for a title nobody cared about.

At 27, Lennox was winning the WBC title.
At 27, Holyfield was already a former Undisputed Cruiserweight Champion.

At 27, Vitali was fighting Mario Scheisser for the vacant EBU title.

    Happy now? :finger

Vitali turned pro late and won the WBO title only two and a half years after that. Doesn't sound too bad to me.

I never said he wasn't consistent and I never said he isn't a good fighter, the OP asked how we rate the quality of his opposition and my opinion is that it is comparitively poor. His best win is Peter and Peter isn't very good.

The Klits have been chasing Povetkin and Haye, not there fault if the fight doesn't happen. Also imo Peter, Arreola etc are much more proven at heavyweight than Haye the Barrett and Valuev conqueror? Where would two guns ad the beast rate all-time? F-level?

Good post. Vitali fights the best available contenders and dominates them.

Some of you here might have missed his message no worries I'll translate for you: Hi I'm Ripple and I really really hate the Klitchkos non of their competition is worth **** and never will be no matter what! Vitaly's an old stiff POS paperchampion who will loose to the amazing Eddie Chambers however even though he is amazing he will lose to Wladimir but only cause he is in a bad spot stylistically also he will have bad luck he will however kill Vitaly with his eyes closed... yap yap yap...

Vitali fought the best available opponents. The only minus is that Vitali wanted to fight Haye who is completely unproven.
