All-time great my ass. He's fought B grader after B grader. If he actually fights and beats the guys considered to be talented like Haye and Povetkin that would help. There is nobody except his brother with pedigree so he needs to fight the most talented. Who the hell rates Sam Peter or Gomez at heavyweight?

That said Vitali's opposition since his comeback has been decent, 10X better than his prime opposition which was absolutely awful, the best of his wins were Danny Williams, Sanders and Herbie Hide..doh.

As for the comment Ali fought smaller men, that is the worst bit of logic of 2009 which is a tremendous achievement considering the opposition. Guess what...Vitali towers over his opponents too and most of them are out of shape and have little ability. I'd rather there were 220lb'ers with boxing skill than out of shape 240lb'ers that plod around the ring in a useless fashion.

Actually I think Chambers vs. Gomez would be a very close fight. JCG won the first round vs. Vitali..............

Chambers vs Gomez would be a joke. Chambers would beat Gomez just as bad as Vitali did, Chambers offense is so much better than Gomez's.

Not at all Gomez was a former Champ with 1 loss out of 40 fights, Areola is a puncher and comes to fight and can take a shot. Peter was a champion with 1 loss....I can see them all beating Holmes best opponents Shavers and Cooney.....

The key word is "was"..... Exactly, gotta keep it in perspective and you're not.

Many fighters a lot worse than Vitali hurt a "better" version of Lewis, even knocked him out with one punch!

Vitali is not an ATG, hes the best of this era and a good solid fighter and champion.

Do some people post stuff like this just to be annoying? or is this what they really think is reality? If yes I am amazed how some people have such low boxing knowledge yet post as if they know and get fooled by the '0'

I think Chambers - Gomez would be fairly even. I think I would just favour Chambers but Gomez might fight better than he did against VK, he would probably be confident he could outwork Chambers, he looked beaten before it had started against VK

He's fighting in a weak period. Sure it's not his fault that the other heavyweights suck BUT if a guy beats up on weak fights all the time would you consider him a great? Probably not. Now we all see that he has the skill to be an ATG but just not the resume. You need to beat great fighters to be a true ATG. You guys talk about how he's dominated fighters but none of them were that good. His opposition has been mediocre and if you can't realize that then you are on the bandwagon. Now is it VK's fault that he fights poor opponents, no BUT you can't try to make these bums he's fighting better than they are.

You've got to be kidding me? Gomez is freaking garbage right now, he looked like garbage against VK, Chambers certainly wouldn't look like that if he fought VK. He probably would beat VK. And Chambers workrate has picked up since his loss to Povetkin. Gomez can try outworking Chambers, but most likely he will get countered, then get beaten to a pulp. Chambers is so much better than Gomez right now, it's ridiculous.

If he carries on like this for another 5 years, then we can start talking ATG.

I appreciate the talent of both Gomez & Chambers, and this is a fight that could actually happen after Wladimir tears Eddie a new ass. He's still young & he'll probably want to work his way up the rankings after the beating he's gonna take...................

Although you maybe 90% sure about your prediction, don't be too sure.
