I don't think he should do it, much too risky and he's got his life as a public official, but what if Vitali came back and beat Fury? Let's say Fury beats Wlad in the rematch, then beats Wilder to become unified champion, both in 2016. At that stage, Fury would basically guarantee himself a place all time no worse than Rid**** Bowe (actually, as I'm thinking about it, that would be a lot more than Rid**** Bowe ever accomplished, and he's almost unanimously considered a top 25 ATG HW). Lets say Vitali then comes back in 2017 as a 45 yr old and beats Fury. If that happened, I think it would vault Vitali comfortably over his brother in the ATG rankings and put him in the top 5 of all time. Don't get me wrong, Fury would and should be the favorite under that scenario. Vitali is so old, and Fury would have proven a ton at that point. But I think Fury seems like he would be vulnerable to an iron chinned, hard punching HW his own size, who can throw in volume and is not afraid to take a punch to land a good one. That definitely describes VK. I think unless Vitali is totally shot, he has an epic fight against Fury, takes a lot of punishment but eventually stops Fury.
He'd become the oldest HW to ever get a belt, and get maybe the signature victory of his career. Can't see him being ranked lower than 5 or 6 all time after that.
You're right. But Vitali just won his second elections and will be Mayor of Kiev for 4 more years. He just doesn't have time to have decent training camp. He trains every day from 7:00 to 8:00 to keep himself in shape, that's it. Training camp means he'll be out of work for at least 6 weeks in a row.
