Vit was supposed to fight prime Rahman but got injured. Doubt it would have been anything but a Vit win. I also have few doubts he'd have knocked out the Wilder that UD'd Stiverne so could have had a couple more bouts to increase the legacy (Stiverne and Wilder) but he'd done enough. The Chisora fight showed the shoulder was still a problem.
Damn i thought Vitali was avoiding Rahman the whole time!! I believed it was the reason the fight was never made.
When exactly did this happened ?? And who was the guy who steps in as a remplacement to fight Rahman?
Was March 2005. Reason given was actually a thigh injury but the knee and shoulder were also unresolved so he retired at the time.
"The fight was for the Interim title, after the reigning champion, Vitali Klitschko, was forced to cancel his defense against Rahman due to a knee injury suffered during training." Thanks, champ!!
Vitali was scheduled to fight Rahman. Vitali couldn't survive training camp at that point. It was put off a couple times. Vitali retired. Rachman became WBC champ after beating Barrett.
"Heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko stunned the boxing world Wednesday, announcing his retirement because of his recent knee injury. Klitschko, 34, suffered a right knee injury while sparring last Thursday, just nine days before he was to make a long overdue mandatory defense against former champion Hasim Rahman. However, the injury forced Klitschko to postpone the match for the fourth time this year because of various injuries." Thank you! I am one of Those blinded by the light guys who believed Rahman has been ducked by Vitali.
I don't know if you understand how boxing works but trust me taking it from a man who coached the all national championships all the way to the top of the nation state here, if you have the power to bust up a man's shoulder, it is perfectly legal and moral to do so. If they are stopped on that, let alone by their own self, then that is you KO'ing them. That is just true. As no more than if your power had damaged their jaws. Good night, sweet spinks.
Adamek KO10 Johnson KO2 (even though Johnson came in out of shape) Sanders KO8 Sam Peter KO8 (peter was on a roll at this time I believe) Arreola KO10 (Arreola still giving guys trouble today) Honorable mentions Hide KO2 Chisora UD JC Gomez KO9 Larry Donald KO10 Kind of a weak top 5 but not entirely Vitali's fault. He does have a lot of decent wins. Too bad there was never a Lewis rematch.
I thought about putting that on my honorable mention list. Bean, though he didn't win, did give Moorer and Holyfield some issues. Also Vaughn Bean, best type of heavyweight cash out example?
I think Vitali Klitschko's 5 best were Herbie Hide, Corrie Sanders, Shannon Briggs, Chris Arreola, and Thomas Adamek.
