What are his top 5 wins?

many consider him an ATG. I’m having a hard time deciding.....is light heavy adamek in there? Chisora? Hmmmm.....

Who could he have fought bit didnt beside Wlad?
It was a weak era and he was unlucky with injuries.
But he was never outboxed, never gave up more than two rounds! Had a sick ko percentage, weird style, granite chin, great comeback, punch output asnd is a h2h mythical nightmare.
Also great as amateur and kickbox champion.

    His best wins are:
    - sanders
    - peter
    - arreola
    - chisora
    - gomez
    - adamek
    - hide
    - johnson
    - donald

Not perse in that order and yes while weak. What else could he have done? Couldnt fight Wlad and Lennox got lucky and ran away from a rematch.
And because he dominated like I mentioned it doesnt make him less of a h2h beast and hof boxer.

    Top15

    Peter
    Sanders
    Gomez
    Johnson (Kirk)
    Donald
    Williams
    Chisora
    Hide
    Solis
    Bean
    Arreola
    Adamek
    Johnson (Safetypin)
    Briggs
    Charr

It looks weird to see Peter topping the list, but at that point he was seen as a force at HW.
It was downhill from there on.
Adamek doesn't even make my top10, because he wasn't much of a force at HW compared to 175 and 200.

Imo and looking at where they were at the time...
In no particular order and in some cases debatable

    Peter
    Hide
    Sanders
    Arreola
    Gomez

Not a bad top 5 at all

I wouldn't say giving Vitali 4 different gashes is luck

But i also would've hoped for a rematch

His best achievement is the knowledge that Wald would never have been world champion had Vitali not retired.

He can't be an ATG with that resume. Sanders, Peter are the only ones worth noting.

His resume is weak but at least in part it wasnt his fault.

    That’s a very weak top 5.

So you're basically didn't see the fight, and are going by what you heard mixed in with the Byrd fight?!
It's up on youtube if you're interested.

It wasn't Vitali's fault, the era was weak

    It's often down to circumstances
I don't think it is weak at all but understand why some do. People often forget where the opponent was in their career when respective fights happen and judge at the end of a career which can also be inaccurate

Vitali was I think 14-2-0 (12KOs) in world title fights

I recall when he was facing Hide that he wasn't picked to win in a boxing magazine and Hide was a very destructive puncher.
It was a very impressive world class win at the time

Peter at the time was a big punching HW champ

Sanders had not longer previously beaten W Klitschko

Gomez was 44-1-0 when Vitali fought him and had as well as being a CW champ, had some decent HW wins

Arreola was 27-0-0 and had been on a good run

But I think as time goes on people just recall some of those opponents for losses they suffered after rather than at the time

It's interesting because I see very conflicting posts and opinions with Wilder who is ATM in world title fights 10-2-1 (10KOs)
