If you want to be remembered as an Undisputed Champion you do what you have to do. Lennox Lewis realized that he had to work with Don King if he wanted to get to Holyfield, so that's what he did. He had worked himself into a position of strength at the bargaining table so he managed to work with King AND make a ton of money. Wlad is in that position as well. The only thing Wlad needs to do to make a unification with any other title holder is to sit down with whatever promoter and make it happen.
I'm not sure of the circumstances, but he did lose to Maskaev. Vitali also lost to Christophe Mendy, Svilen Rusinov and Alexei Lezin (twice) in the amateurs, among others. I believe he had around 15 losses in total. I've also heard that he got KO'd by a punch in a Kickboxing fight with William van Roosmalen, but I haven't seen any real evidence whether that is true or not. I just have someone's word that they saw it.
I think he has Peter's no. for a TKO as long as he has stamina to go 10 rounds(Peter's face will be hamburger by then).
If Peter were to win the WBC, and face Vitali, I have my doubts about Peter surviving til the last round, seeing as how McCline, who is no where near the puncher Vitali is, was able to bounce Peter around the ring like a rubber ball. Vitali would be ALL OVER him when he has him hurt, and would finish him in grand fashion. Vitali likes to get rough and engage in wild exchanges, as we all have seen. But Peter won't beat Maskaev..................Vitail will end up facing Maskaev sometime in the summer, in my opinion. Oleg's stock will rise shortly when he beats Peter in less than two weeks. And Vitali's comeback will make fight fans curious to see if he's still as effective and as good as he was in 2004 when he pasted Danny Williams..............and if he can come back, cold, and still pull it off, after three surgeries, and three plus years down time. ............these two aspects will make for a HUGE fight between these two.
 So I guess Wlad has no power then? He only hurt Peter once in 12 rounds of throwing - and landing - his best shots on Peter's face. Or is McCline just so much more powerful than Wlad?
personally i believe that is bull****. if they succeed at being titleholders at the same time of course they will unify for a multi- million dollar showdown. its probably already planned
Is this a rumour that's up there with "Tyson is back and determined this time?" If Oleg beats Peter, I reckon its an even money bet whether or not Vitali and Oleg would meet before Oleg turns 40 with their combined record of delaying fights and not making it through training camps.
Exactly, Mccline was able to do something Wlad wasnt able to do. Alot people dont take into consideration Mccline early round power, it's only later in fights does he gas out and put less into his punches. Mccline has alredy floored this top guys early in fights, Bryd, Brock, Briggs, Grant, and Peter.
I may be wrong, but I don't think Vitali would stay in boxing very long after winning back his title. I think he'd probably try to unify with Chagaev, or if not, defend it a time or two, then bow out, as he and his brother's dream would then be fully realized. But that's just my opinion, of course. And if the worst scenario is both brothers having all four titles, that is not too bad, if you ask me. It would certianly be better than having four seperate titles. And both of them having a couple titles each would probably make for a lot of media and public interest, and would be good for the sport, for a while, til Vitali retired, and Wlad then attemtped to win the remaining titles. I don't see how their plan on holding all four titles would be a bad thing, cause, as I said, I think it'd be a short lived, and would be of interest to the media, while it was going on. Just my take on it.
**** you shitheel. I never claimed to know about every loss. I didn't see the Maskaev fight as I'm sure 99.999999% of the people on this forum INCLUDING Vitali fans didn't either. I never said he was dropped. I openly said I wasn't sure of the circumstances. I'm a fan of amateur boxing and see all that I can, but a lot of tournaments and fights aren't televised in most of the world. I travel a lot for work so occasionally I miss some. It's not "common knowledge" in the ****ing slightest. :finger
Grant broke his ankle in the opening exchange. McCline's "power" had nothing to do with it. He's heavy-handed due to his size, but he's not powerful at all, even early. That's why the guys he knocked down always got up, and usually went on to beat him.
Yeah, I know Grant broke his ankle on the way down. Mccline is heavy-handed early on in fights, it's only later in fights when he gasses out, does he not possess the knockout power. Knocking down top guys like Brock, Bryd, Briggs, and Peter is pretty impressive, if only he could find a way to build his stamina, he can become a real threat in this weak Heavyweight division.
