And he's also headed to the HOF. His robotic style belies his athleticism and his smarts in the ring. His defense his awkward but extremely effective. His command of distance is second to none and his ring generalship is what makes him great. . . Yes, I said great. He will go down as an all-time great and I don't see him losing for as long as he wants to keep fighting. Line up Vitaly haters, line up!!

I recall Merchant said he thought Vitali looked as good as he ever has looked.

    HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA

    Quit against Chris Byrd.

Lost to an all time heavy and out of shape Lewis

    Resume? Sucks

Rocky Marciano beats V Klit. He's not a top 20 HW face the facts. Tyson blows him out of the water. Frazier beats him up bad. Liston would mess him up. Foreman would knock him out. Holmes and Ali embarrass him to a decision. You're an idiot!

It's easy to look great against a slow, plodding fighter who couldn't even bother to whip himself up to proper shape. Vitali will have problems against any fighter with fast handspeed, footwork, and effective aggression....whether or not such a fighter exists in today's heavyweight division is another story.

But don't delude yourself into thinking Vitali would get very far in the eras of Ali/Frazier/Foreman/Holmes/Tyson/Holyfield/Lewis. He struggled against an unmotivated Lewis in his younger years, and now he's dominating a weak division even though he's declined as a fighter since.

If he actually beat someone worth a **** then yes. If he did not get stopped by a Lennox Lewis on his way out.. Then maybe. But go fish...*****.

If you wanna see an idiot, look in the mirror. Klitschko would be over 60 lbs heavier and 9" taller. This would be a total mismatch.

Vitali could be in the top 20 somewhere, Would lose to the very best with ease as his style makes him an easy target for the all-time greats, his brother would get demolished by anyone in the top 20. Stylewise Joe Frazier would kill Wlad, big left hook landing at will and glass jaw shattering

    I agree.

    Vitaly definitely.

Wlad would always be a very tough opponent, but would take several losses too.

As much as I like Marciano, I think PetethePrince just showed why I will never take PetethePrince seriously in any way about anything again. I wouldn't say Vitali would be champ in any era but I would say he would stand a good chance in any era. He's a great fighter with plenty of natural gifts. If you can't see it by now, you never will. And to bring up Liston "messing up" Vitali after saying Vitali "quit" against Byrd is funny. Considering one of Liston's more popular losses...

Statements still less crazy than saying Vitali would be a champ in any era. Saying as he wasn't when Lewis was old and out of shape he won't be beating him if he's in his prime, nor the tons of previous HW either.

At least it was clear Liston was aging, past his prime, and becoming unmotivated. He was drinking heavily and not training seriously while Vitali was in the prime of his life and up ahead way on the cards. Liston was getting beat up. And a prime Liston destroys Vitali :good

Champ? I don't know about that.

But I would think that with Vitaly's akward style, high punch output, good chin, good power and good reflexes he'd be a contender in any era.

And he'd give any heavyweight, even the great ones, a tough fight.
