Vitaly to appeal Maskeav as next challenger?

    If Vitaly wins, an appeal to the sports court may be in order..

    There's a couple of angles on this.

    Firstly, why should Maskeav get a shot just like that. The WBC seems to just make **** up as it goes along.

    Secondly - isn't a bit off that Vitaly is complaining about the WBC making rules up and letting guys leapfrog challengers due to them doing as they please? I mean, the whole Emeritus stuff was made up just for him to do that in the first place.

    Don't get me wrong, it's bogus. But Vitlay has benefitted once from them and their shady rules, he should take it on the chin now when it's not in his favour.

    In fact, won't this fight with Gomez be Vitalys FIRST mandatory defence of the WBC??

    Couldn't Peter have said "Why do I have to carry the can for Vitalys deals with the WBC".


    Imagine if Lewis now decides (just to **** with everyone) to say "I'd like to play my 'get a title shot for free' Emeritus card thanks - do I go before or after Maskaev?"

    The WBC are a clueless, disorganised rabble at the moment with their heavyweight decisions

    Yep, I find it kinda funny Vitali is getting upset over this, when he's the one that was granted a title shot straight out the gate, after being out of the sport for nearly 4 years. I do hope however Vitali wins this match in court, noone wants to see Maskaev against Vitali.

    I dont know what organization is worse, the WBA who seems to keep giving Ruiz title shot after title shot, or the WBC for all their shady doings over the last couple years. Enough is enough, the division ****ing sucks, but dont make it worse by making the better fighters at Heavyweight fight lame competition. I dont think anyone would lose sleep if both Ruiz and Maskaev decided never to fight again, I know I could care less.

    ****ing ridiculous, Maskaev gets completely annhilated by Sam Peter, loses the belt and then gets another shot at a title and a pay day in his next fight? ****ing dumbest **** i have ever heard... the emeritus thing was pretty lame but this is the reason why boxing is going to hell in a hand basket.

    Oleg has no business fighting vitali...vitali is 10 times the fighter his bro is for 1...vitali should be able to take any opponent in his next fight!!! **** oleg..hes done..the only thing hes known for is a couple kos over rahman and a couple power punches over a few other fighters...if they do fight ill take vitali by ko in 5

    How about Ruiz v Maskaev in a "loser must retire and never get a ranking again" title fight?

    I agree, it's ludicrous the way both organisations are going.

    God knows what they're all thinking. The Emeretus thing was bad enough.

    Then they had 2 mandatories from memory - wasn't Peter the mandatory, and McCall and Gomez fought for next mandatory, then Vitaly came back with his Emeritus trump card :patsch

    It's getting worse than the bloody wrestling...

    As a fan of Vitalis I want him to fight Maskaev, just so he can have another champion he defeated on his resume.

    Hopefully he then can unify the WBA title and people can cut the guy some slack.

    wlad and vitali needa fight each other...the hw division is weak..those 2 are the only good fighters in the hw division!!

    Too bad for his fans they'll never fight each other!

    Vitali and Vlad will never fight each other, they are brothers and will never break their promise. So forget it. I don't blame them, they are brothers.

    A fight against Maskaeav as a champion on his resume would be about as meaningful as fighting Larry Holmes or Michael Moorer at the moment.

    Maskaev brings NOTHING to the table. There is no doubt it would be all about the money for Oleg, trying to cash in on interest around 2 EAstern Bloc fighters fighting.

    Maskaev looked like he was fighing underwater the last few fights I saw, even the one where he KO'd Rahman.

    It's the money..........Vitali will knock Maskaev out.........hope Oleg does not get seriously hurt, he has a family.

    I'd rather see Oleg Maskaev get a title shot then that of Johnny Ruiz......... Maskaev actually comes to KO or be KO'd.......... Ruiz comes to hold on and last the distance..........

    Is Maskeav worthy now? Why doesn't the WBC order a fight between him and another contender?

    Maskaev is a weird choice of opponent but I rather see Vitali fighting him, than battling that time in court.

    While it is moronic ruling by WBC, Vitali probably won’t have to fight mandatories for a while after this.

    I hope this conflict doesnt freeze WBC title picture.
