how do you figure? even at 40 years old they had him an 8 to 1 favorite...
if your 40 years old and in excellent shape like he is...and the 29 year olds are fat ass slobs...that never accomplished anything...or light heavyweights and cruiserweights that cant punch...
its not vitalis fault everyone is so mediocre...and thats being generous .
when clowns like ray austin gets 1 shot by fluke and gets hammered out in 2 rounds...and hes back or was in the mix at 40 by beating NO ONE...and loses an ELIMINATOR to Solis...and some how a year later is yet again in another eliminator after basically sitting around for a year with no activity...thats how bad it is

Its not that the division is so bad, but rather that the four sanctioning bodies try to avoid the upper fighters in each one, so as to not overlap.

The division is not bad, at all, and it is certainly nothing like you are desperately trying make it out to be. You are dismissing everyone away with a mere partial sentence......:-(

    +1

I'd like to see him fight and destroy Dimitrenko and Sasha said he wanted the Vitali-Adamek winner so hopefully that can happen.

6'4 southpaw with 10 title defenses as CW Champion. What a nobody

How the hell is a win over Arreola, an overweight Arreola at that better than a win over Peter? Like it or not people but Peter was a World champ at that stage and was also coming off 2 wins over an ATG. Peter never gets the respect he deserves. He was also the last man to truly test Wlad, no one else has even put up a fight against him.

And conversely, who the hell has Arreola ever beat? Apparently victories over Chazz Witherspoon and Jameel McLine make you a big man these days.

the problem os quite simple the natural heavyweights are just fat and the in shape ones are coming up in weight and are too small to do anything about it vitali could reign for years if he wanted too but if he wants to retire than why carry on doing something you dont want to do anymore?

Vitali is the only HW out there that I really enjoy watching and I will be unhappy when he retires. While he still feels fit and able to get through a training camp he should continue. I foresee atleast 2 years possibly 3 years left maximum, which could be 5 or 6 fights left in the tank. He mentioned 5 fights in his post fight interview.

It's very hard to gauge where Vitali is in terms of all time. Whilst I think he is overrated by his fans, I do think he is underrated by everyone else (mainly due to the lack of resume).

Put him up against any pre 1960 era fighter, and he think he wins more often than not. I think the likes of Marciano, Dempsey, etc. Better fighters P4P, but too small to beat him.

Then the post 1960 era fighters, how does he do? Well fight 10 times each against the best 10, and I think he wins a fair share of those fights. H2H with any fighter, Vitali causes them problems. His style is awkward, he is tall, fights tall, he's hard to hit clean, he is very strong, athletic, good chin and heavy fisted. You can bet all of the greatest would need to use all their skills to find a way to beat him.

I dunno where I rate him all time. I put him in my list on resume and achievement, then immediately think he'd beat half the fighters above him. I can say for sure though, in the current era, the only thing that might beat Vitali is age. Unless he gets old all of a sudden, which at 40 there is always a chance of, none of the current crop are going to come close before he retires.

HW is doing well.... although it is a little like tennis when Federer was at his best.... One champ sitting on everything!

That is not a sign the men's tennis was weak... just that Federer was that good.

    Same with Vitaly.

Obviously I don't want him to retire because that would bring the top bar in the division down (although Wlad holds it up at quite a high level himself). But I would understand if Vitaly takes another 3 fights and calls it quits.

    Same here.

I don't enjoy Wlad very much and he has to push himself to be a fighter.

Vitaly is a natural fighter with all the tools. By far the most interesting and entertaining HW the past many years.

    This.

Seriously, why are there are so many people repeating this "weak era" **** like a mantra, without even looking at past eras? Can't they see they look like clowns? Didn't a blown up LHW like Adamek beat Foreman in the 70s? Didn't a blown up LHW beat Holyfield in the 90s?
