Byrd is the kind of slip and slide boxer who will give you the same kind of angles that the herky jerky Gomez will, Its not a bad choice of immitation....

Byrd is a good commentator but if he can be succesful at CW then more power to him, his comentating career can wait until after he retires. I don't see Byrd being a punching bag for the next generation.

Gomez is paying $8 for the straight win!!!

I think ill get on at that price.

What are some of the odds from your country?

    I quite agree with you.

Gomez, too, has choosen two fighters who can immitate Vitaly's style more or less well, especially Virchis.

How many slick southpaws are actually available in the higher weight classes? I mean, he wasn't going to get Chad Dawson as a sparring partner, and I can't even think of who else might fit the bill.

I think that Vitali made better choises with Byrd and Thompson. Especially Byrd.

Right. Vitali is also sparring with some crusiers. In this fight, Vitlai will need to keep his left a bit higher, circle a bit to his left, and throw double jabs and some lead rights. This is how to fight a southpaw.

No, Vitali works hard and through all his life he got nothing for granted. He had to work hard even harder than many other to achieve his success. By the way Vitali had been an object of huge negativity and criticism even on ESB message board.

Well,I dont intend to claim that Virchis is an exact copy of Vitaly, but he has pop in his fists,is a very huge fellow, not the most mobile fighter out there.
Of course Vitaly is faster than Virchis, his defence is better, and Vitaly would probably beat Virchis 9 out of 10 times.
He actuallly knocked Virchis out at the amateurs once.
Nevertheless,I for one think that Virchis is an excellent choice of a sparring partner for Gomez.
I am not that sure about Orlov though.
Orlov is tall, probably the tallest fighter on this planet. That's it!

If Vitali just comes forward and dictates the pace of the fight, he should have no problem dispatching JCG.

But, If he just lays back and tries to box with JCG, he could suffer the same fate as Valuev in the Chagaev fight.

My guess is that he doesn't have enough respect for JCG to just sit back and box. He will try to blow him out early.

Good sparring is so important, but it could go wrong way if trainer lets it get too intense, and does not save best for fight. I remember a few fighters getting into wars sparring before fights, and going into aactual bout flat. David Sears against Bobby Cyez was one, he spent week warring with Crhis Ried in gym, was all beat up by fight time, was ko'd in one round. Blew his title shot. robably was going to lose anyway, but why **** up any chance you have?

Byrd is good sparring partner, he won't wear you out. Only problem could be if his awkwardess messes up Klitschko's timing, which can happen in trianing.
