Nah. Wlad got unusually gassed for that fight. Maybe not pacing himself correctly... thinking he could or would stop Brewster, or the psychological toll of facing immense pressure coming right back from such a bad KO loss like Sanders, or maybe something else, idk. But it wasn't purely because of anything Brewster was doing, imo. I rewatched that fight a few weeks ago and theres little doubt in my mind that something was wrong with Wlad in that fight, either mentally or physically. That's not your typical exhaustion and imo its quite obvious.
The way he suddenly gassed out like that reminded me of David Price v Tony Thompson 2. I think the fear of a fighter knowing he has a glass jaw and not being allowed to use his holding tactics can leave a fighter exhausted with the negative tension of not being in control. I think Khan gets effected like this also, a lack of ring generalship to cope when the referee won't let you continually hold an opponent to break up the action. But what I am stating is that it is a symptom of correct refereeing techniques in this fight rather than one of Boente's referees. Explain further, what do you believe it was Kirk? Didn't Vlad gas similarly like this before?
Personally I don't think hes gassed like that before. You could see as early as round, what... 3? That he was fading. That's just not normal for an athlete like Wlad imo. Its not like it was round 9 or 10. Has he gassed before, yes. But to me, watching it, and seeing the signs of him gassing (at least imo) as early as he was, given the action that was taking place, is just not normal. Some of his mannerisms while being gassed are also not normal given the output involved. the way he crawls back to his corner and is none responsive is just not your typical fatigue, (this is all just imo, who am I to say for sure) for such a good athlete to experience in that small a time frame. Before I rewatched the fight a few weeks ago and going almost entirely from memory of the night I figured it was down to some sort of mental breakdown? Perhaps being its his first fight back from being KO'd. That's really the only explanation I can think of. A mini panic attack in the ring? I just don't know though, whos to say. All I know is that in my opinion, its not a normal situation.... That Wlad, had he gassed like that in tough situations, would have gassed and been KO'd by Peter in their first fight, clinching or no clinching. On a side note, before I rewatched it again I had forgotten that Wlad also did some atrocious holding in the beginning of the Brewster fight as well. I think that was the first fight where he began the use of excessive grabbing and leaning.
Threw too many shots and some hard body shots took the wind out of him. The body shots definitely go overlooked.
I've not watched vlads other 2 defeats in full, how do you feel they differ from why he lost in the Brewster fight. I will watch the those 2 defeats and the 1st peter fight in the coming days because I have only watched full fights of vlad on this current long unbeaten streak and to me it seems that it is virtually impossible for any fighter on the planet to stand a chance with Boente's referee's in place.
every one of your posts that i've seen thus far, clearly shows you to be simply deluded in the extreme. they're pathetic. are you related to Wlad or something? because the manner in which you go about defending all his ills, is truly disturbing. :deal
Puritty : Was taken into 'deep waters' due to his opponent absorbing all punishment, Wlad gassed.... got stopped. Similar to Hayes first loss imo. Sanders : Didn't deal with Sanders size, speed, power and southpaw stance well at all. I think Sanders gives any wlad problems. Brewster : Mental collapse? Panic attack? Didn't pace himself? Relentless attacker with a very big punch attacking body and head. Maybe started with a mental breakdown, which compounded and made worse his physical gassing, then add a relentless power puncher on top of it and its a bad night. all just imo. Let me know what you think after you watch them. :good
I'm in agreement that Wlad is a flawed fighter and has major weaknesses if forced to fight by the rules. However, the premise that the ref had a hand in forcing Wlad to fight by the rules is flawed. This just is'nt the case. Wlad did'nt have a history of employing the jab and clinch before his loss to Brewster. My assertion is that Wlad's loss to Brewster is what created him as the fighter he is today. In order to not get himself into situations where he's vulnerable as happened to him in the first Brewster fight, Wlad conciously changed his style of fighting and employed the grappling methods to avoid any types of exchanges at close quarters. This came as a consequence to the Brewster loss, not as a result of the ref forcing him to have to fight.
