It is considered an important skill when you talk to people who are involved in the sport as a livelihood. Barring being in the sport for monetary benefit you might want to watch footage of a guy named Johnson... Or Ali... Or Lewis.
Jack Johnson hugged like a mummy, Marciano and Dempsey both rabbit punched and hit when their opponents were down, Ali and Lewis both clinched and leaned and also held and hit...
Clinching is a part of boxing . To Wlad boxing comes second place to his hugging show. 20 clinches against Mormek in round 1. He should of been DQ'd.
Fighting inside and out of the clinch is a skill, hugging excessively when the fight isn't going your way is not.
You do remember Ali in the 70's, right? If you don't like your opponent clinching, then either be stronger than him or make him pay for initiating the clinch.
Wlad and Ali do not compare. Brewster made him pay by landing bombs on his body that had him sucking for air by round 3. Any other decent fighter would be able to do the same.
I skipped to 16:39(if I remember right) random and after 1.5 seconds Ali was holding Frazier by the neck and pushing him down with the arm till the ref broke them...
Because Brock, Ibragimov, Peter, Haye, Chagaev, Byrd, Chambers and Thompson were not "decent". They had no background in the sport nor credibility upon which to stand. Surely, you or I could topple them on a good night. Oh, and what happened to Brewster the next time they met? Did he forget how simple it was to merely go to the body?
Fuk off Klittard moron Brewster was blind in one eye and was inactive in the hospital for over a year ... literally confined to a hospital bed How was he supposed to beat bitchko? Why didn't that ****** challenge him the two years he held the belt?
Well seeing how Sonny was no where near his prime when he fought Ali what Ali did dosen't matter Liston in his prime had much better movement and what was Sonny going to do in the Ali fight dance with him just aimlessly follow him on his toes getting hit even more? , oh yeah but i forgot Wlad moves around like a 22 year old Ali woops atsch Even with all Alis movement he got tagged with a hard left hook early on you can hear it i don't think Wlad had the chin of Ali do you .. If Ali could move like that and still get hit moving back what goes for Wlad, Wlad isn't some unbeatable guy everyone can be beaten
The chin of the Ali that was decked by Sonny Banks and light heavy Cooper was different than that of the guy who fought Frazier, Foreman and Shavers. As we have seen with Wlad, chins are largely mental and can be discovered over time. Not saying that Wlad has a great chin just that it's frailty is much oversold. Dancing is not footwork; it is dancing. If you read the comments of opponents, sparring partners and trainers, the two things they comment on regarding Wlad... power and footwork. I'll take their word for it.
