"Moustro" has a terrible record but is a rugged, experienced southpaw and will probably be the Russian's fourth best opponent to date in reality (disregarding pretenders with padded records).

Interesting article on him from a few years ago:

Would be a statement if Shishkin managed to join the very exclusive club of those who could stop him. (incl. Vyacheslav Shabranskyy...)

Slippery, negative customer, this Brazilian - Young jabbing his face off and whipping in body hooks.

Both were making their respective pro boxing debuts; apparently de Oliveira used to be an MMA fighter.

    Round 1

Shishkin using lots of twitch feints and changing levels with the jab. Riojas jittery, counter-feinting with the high-thrust right jab while maintaining a low center of gravity. Shishkin presses in with body shots in twos and threes, and experiments with headhunting combos at mid-range (throwing a 1-2-3-2 and landing all but one shot at least partially).

    10-9 Shishkin

    Round 2

Riojas having a go, but finding it difficult to reach the chin of Shishkin when the lanky Russian straightens up to full height and rapidly pulls away, pecking with straight parries and finding a home for the left jab downstairs while Riojas is resetting. A spring up off his knees and some right hooks off the jab liven up Riojas' offense but nothing getting through cleanly for him.

    10-9 Shishkin

    20-18 Shishkin

Watching. Totally exhausted though and won't be contributing much in the way of RBR discussion though. Not that there's much to discuss. This is a clinic against an overmatched stay busy for Shishkin.

    Round 3

Shishkin beginning to spam the right hand lead, backing Riojas across the ring. Shishkin mixing up reach-in jabs on the face while lunging out with his left foot to plant it aft of Riojas' front heel, and skewering rights on the sternum - the result being that Riojas' guard is loosening up. Shishkin moving in with uppercuts and rocking him against the ropes. A few very hard 1-2s by Shishkin. Riojas tossing back right jabs desperately.

    10-9 Shishkin, dominant

    30-27 Shishkin

He's looking good, though, doing what he ought to be versus a guy like Moustro, working towards getting rid of him at least. I don't see any regression in skill from his bygone performances. One minor nitpick is that he sort of tomahawks or drawbridge-lowers his jab at times instead of snapping it out straight (with preferably a half-step outside to get the proper distance to unfurl it) but I can't remember if he always had that habit.

40-36 Shishkin...I'd call it 50-50 at the moment that Riojas survives. As long as he doesn't get brave/greedy and Shishkin doesn't show a plan H to crack the nut, we could be looking at six more of the same.

Speaking of Shabranskyy, that'd be a hell of a nice match-up and way to gauge Shishkin's true value. I'd be shocked at either guy agreeing to such a fight, though - risky as hell for both. Shabranskyy has been a contender and shouldn't be prospect fodder just yet, and meanwhile he's a dangerous step up for a Shishkin whose best scalps are still probably Mohammedi or shot Khomitsky.
