Shishkin meets Khomitsky in the middle of the ring, scoring a couple of stiff jabs. Khomitsky puts that momentum to a halt by unceremoniously lashing Shishkin with a high lariat right. Khomitsky is shooting his own jab into Shishkin's now to dissolve it in-flight. Khomitsky gaining in confidence, pressuring steadily but not fully sacrificing himself, stalking in ever nearer spirals inside. Shishkin is retreating, putting out a feeler jab to establish range - and then lines up a PERFECT RIGHT CROSS, timing his circling and punch execution so that Khomitsky walks directly onto it...and down he goes. Flash knockdown in the sense that Khomitsky isn't badly hurt, but that was a legitimate decking. They jab out the remainder.

Round 6

Khomitsky is pushing a jab now, looking a bit wearie. Khomitsky going through all the motions now, biding time and looking to survive until he catches a second wind or clears the cobwebs or whatever. Desperate swiping body hooks from Khomitsky, lightly brushing the waistband. Shishkin feeding straight combos into the face of Khomitsky, past his jab, forcing him to lean in and tie up. Khomitsky lobs an up-jab from medium range and is tagged flush with a step-back jab. Shishkin now showing off a little with that fadeaway shot, Tim Duncan style. Khomitsky is enraged and spams a hard corkscrew right on the body, chasing Shishkin but only hitting elbow for the most part, maybe a little abdomen.

Round 7

Khomitsky down off a 1-2. Shishkin is lighting him up. Khomitsky is looking exponentially older and feebler and more exhausted with each round, increasingly as though unable to adequately defend himself. The ref is having a close look, giving him every opportunity to mount a rally. Shishkin with three unanswered two-piece combos in a row, just stepping in and out rhythmically and landing at will. Khomitsky inbbad shape. Ref in, waving.

So either Khomitsky is washed up or Shishkin is a real diamond in the rough, or else both of those statements each contain some undetermined quantum of truth and falsehood.

In rounds 1-4 it really seemed like more or less vintage Ghost...after that, unrecognizable, a pitiful geezer being lit up with no dog left in him.

 

I'm kind of glad to have not seen that live actually, because it would have ended right before I picked up Lil Butt from school and it could well have darkened my entire mood for the whole evening.

Wait ...so was this a spoiler, or just a wild coincidence that you dreamed the precise result but didn't actually know it as of when you posted this??


If the former it thankfully didn't come off that way, as I was genuinely shocked by the result watching it on VK hours later.

 

Yeah, honestly I'd never suspect that you would, except it was so uncannily on-the-nose.

Your subconscious birthed a vision of a hitherto unheralded non-puncher (on paper; didn't even drop Piternov, while most good prospects take him out), stopping a guy known for his durability & grit (that had only ever been knocked out by a young seek-&-destroy version of GGG, and forced to retire by Khurtsidze, otherwise NEVER stopped), and even nailed down the very round! The probability of that has to be astronomically low!

Maybe you're a descendant of the Oracle @ Delphi. You got a little Greek in you?

 

(my own prediction: if the answer is no, @CST80 is gonna swoop in and say "well, how would ya like to? " Low hanging fruit, yes, but I'd make the same exact joke were I genealogically able to, in his shoes)

 

Also what is you guys' impression of Shishkin? Even though Khomitsky altogether shat the bed after the fourth, I think it was a pretty strong performance from the kid. We likely don't reach the 5th-7th territory if he isn't good/smart enough to stave off Khomitsky's early attack, that's worth considering..
