And then he rediscovered the excessive clinching. Most of Wlad's fights are a symbol of either deep corruption or simply very low-quality referees. This man should've been disqualified in so many fights, but at least he was so pathetic that he'll stay in history as the most boring "super" champion who got exposed for being a terrific cheater.

23 Total world title defenses. Olympic Gold Medal. Unquestionable hall of fame career. Compare Wlad’s opponents for his 23 defenses wins and loses to any of the other past champions opposition and it’s not too shabby at all.

“Cigarette paper thin” huh?? Keep hating ;)

And these are all quaity guys (except Peter), but the problem is that he had a massive physical advantage over all of them.

The big boys he beat, like Austin and Wach, mostly sucked. Thompson was all right, but not much of a puncher.

It was a good run, but it definitely feels like something is missing.

Ya, it wasn't a great era but he basically cleaned it out other than Vitali and old Lewis.

Fury fanboy trolls are not the sharpest tools in the shed at the best of times but OP is something else still. So you argue that the best win of Fury was against the guy who was trash after all? Fine by me.

He fought very good guys. Wlad himself was athletic. The problem with him is that he fought dirty and against the rules, so it's questionable how many of his victories are legit, maybe that is the missing you talk about. But at the end his master cheating was beaten by a superior man and nobody sane questions that (if not a massive anti-Fury amoeba, but we talk about Wlad here).

If we compare Wlads best five to Lewis, Holyfield and Tysons top 5 then we get this

Wlad Povetkin, Byrd, Chagaev, Haye, Ibragivov
Lewis Holyfield, Vitali, Tua, Mccall, Tyson
Holyfield Bowe, Tyson, Valuev, Foreman, Holmes
Tyson Holmes, Berbick, Bruno, Ruddock, Tubbs

Looking at this list the wins that Wlad has are lightyears below those of Lennox Lewis and Evander Holyfield but his wins are better than the wins that Mike Tyson has on his record.

It's also how dominantly you're winning those fights.

    Fair.

But, lol, giving Holyfield the win over Valuev. He was so old and shot at that point he shouldn't have been in the ring. Valuev was a gentleman and tried not to hurt the living legend. Holyfield coming off a loss, was 14 months inactive and 44 years old. It was "a robbery" in that Holyfield arguably edged out a round over Valuev, but imagine if Valuev was actually trying to put it on Holyfield. It would have been horrible to see.

I have to admit that I haven't explored this topic sufficiently. If we assume that Valuev was this lean mean hurting machine then why didn't he hurt Marcelo Dominguez (another fighter that should have a W on his record over Valuev), why didn't he hurt Ruiz and Haye?

Are you really sure about this whole thing? Maybe acromegaly Valuev simply didn't have the tools to defeat Holyfield?

Edit: Since you agree with me that Holyfield should have been a point ahead then this is a legitimate Holyfield victory since even though Valuev might have thrown the fight that doesn't mean that Holyfield didn't win it.

You're a repulsively bad poster. And you appear to have severe brain damage.

Just... shut up for a bit please?

Wlad has some good wins, was very dangerous, could KO anyone, but it's true he also coasted with numerous defences while living the high life in his Austrian sauna with the personal chef and pool boys. Let's get real.

I mean he was happy to fight Thompson twice, and characters like Leapai and Wach and Pianeta and Jennings...

But he wouldn't rematch Povetkin under actual boxing rules, or even rematch Haye for that matter, who actually did have an injury and he couldn't KO like promised. Let's think about that. Those fights were WAY more lucrative but he preferred to make his lower but still big fee for extremely safe fights. It's not much different to Fury lately.
