Yes, Wlad is in much better shape right now (before camp as even started), than most heavyweights are AFTER camp.

I don't think he'll come out timid though...I think he'll be more aggressive as he was in his last fight against Thompson.

Wlad made a lot of changes in this fight. YES, I know Thompson is a southpaw, and that is why we saw some of the changes we did. Of course, that's a given.

But, the arms a little lower, the crouching a bit instead of standing tall, going in more aggressive (really reminded me of Vitali's style a bit).

These are all things that I believe Wladimir is working on for the bigger opponents (Fury, Price, Wach, etc...)

It's also the same way I think Wlad would have fought Valuev, had that fight ever been made. More mobile (not just relying on the jab), and more aggressive.

Now, if Wladimir fights someone smaller next, such as Povetkin..I think we'd see more of the way he usually fights. Two different styles for two different kinds of opponents. For lack of a better term, I'll call it the "under 6'5 and over 6'5" styles.

 

Wach looks like Russ Abbott.

You could be right. Or perhaps he just knows that he gets so much **** when he doesn't KO the guys early enough, especially considering who his last 2 opponents. Again I don't think he is the type of guy who will change based on the reactions of fans, but maybe he himself knew that he should and could KO these guys earlier then he has been.

 

Yep, I posted it in another thread talking about the fight and how Wladimir would fight.

I don't think the change is about getting the KO earlier, it's just a different approach for a different type of opponent. If the KO comes earlier, great...but I don't think that's the purpose behind it (if Wlad indeed comes out fighting the way I suspect).

 

I agree with most of that.

Thompson 2 was a different Wlad. I think it's the first time I ever saw him fight with complete confidence. He had a bit of swagger in there, and a complete lack of fear. I guess it came from him knowing Thompson could not hurt him.
I think we will see more of that with Wach. Wach is just so slow, Wlad won't have any trouble with him.
