The main problems in Vlads career seems to have arisen when he has had a neutral referee that follows the rules and do not allow him to repetitively hold and constantly lean on the back of an opponent with zero infighting allowed.

    Is this a fair analysis?

Has Boente buying referees and making them follow an illegal rule set been a huge factor in Vlads success?

How many of Vlads defeats have been in America?

How many times has vlad been knocked down with a neutral referee in the ring?

Povetkin slips a punch to get close and he is clinched.

Wlad is the master at the feint- clinch.

He would get DQed by some referees thats for certain

When was the last time Wlad had a fight with clinches?

    Serious question...

Wlad has three defeats. First was in Kiev, Ukraine in 1998. Second was in Germany in 2003.

Wlad already won in Russia (povetkin's country) in front of Povetkin's president with a referee who had helped Povetkin in a controversial fight. It was a bad fight, but why would you think things be more difficult for him in America.

The ref enforced Wlad to box cleanly against Brewster in America.

Brewster was not that great a fighter and he was able to get Wlad out in 5 rounds.

Don't forget that Wlad also now has his own personal drug testers that he won't fight without.

Firstly Putin was not there boy.

Second because Wlad would not be allowed to jump on Povetkins back nor would he be allowed to clinch 167 times and would actually have to fight on the inside for once.

He probably would win anyway but he would not be allowed to cheat.

    I don't think so.

Can you provide us with a credible source?

I respect the ability of Vlad, he is fast with good footwork and has an incredibly powerfull jab that fukcs all his opponents up but it just amazes me that he is allowed to hold his opponent 9 or 10 times every single round, how can it be possible for a referee to allow this for 12 full rounds without multiple points taken off and the threat of disqualification?

A Vlad that isn't allowed to hold is an extremely different proposition for his opponent.

Once again, no one has objectivity to admit that this is the first Wlad fight to have numerous clinches since Peter 1.

Some of you guys are truly out of your element.

He took those rounds off when he landed 10 clinches a round:yep

In round 12 he landed 20 clinches, but the clinch after the bell was technically illegal.

the problem was that Povetkin was slipping and ducking the jab and made his way inside, Wlad doesnt know what to do in this situation, if Povetkin stayed on the outside there would not be 170 clinches and jumping on the mans back.

He cheats because he cannot deal with it on the inside- it seems.

That's interesting and doesn't surprise me at all. I didn't follow too much of vlads early career and have only seen the odd youtube clips of some of vlads defeats but from watching Vlad on a number of occasions in this long unbeaten run its amazed me that the referees allow zero in-fighting in his fights and allow Vlad to constantly grab and hold without warning.

Off memory can you remember what the refereeing was like in the Brewster match up?

Did Vlad get warned for his holding and get forced to fight within the rules or did Vlad just fight less cowardly back then and was interested in fighting in the pocket?
