In terms of overall boxing ability, it is pretty close prime for prime even. JMM is one of the best textbook boxers I've ever seen. His variety of punches at least matches a prime Hopkins(probably slightly outdoes Hops in that regard), while Hopkins has the better inside game. In terms of accomplishments and ATG status, yes Hopkins holds the clear advantage, though JMM grows closer if he can get a win over Pacquiao, not close enough though.
maybe I underrate JMM because in his fight against John I thought he got soundly outboxed, and against a shot Barrera i thought he didn't impress. Anyways for me Hopkins is still better than Marquez

These are my two favourite active fighters. As far as I'm concerned anyone picking Bernard as the better fighter here is delusional. And I mean that in the nicest possible way, really.
