    That's a good question.

I would say that Malignaggi was up against a future ATG and that that was his first experience of a big fight. There were moments during that fight when Malignaggi outboxed Cotto but that tends to get overlooked by most people as the injuries he suffered were so eye catching. His lack of experience of the big occassion and of fighting someone like Cotto counted against him in the long run.

I believe that if Malignaggi came back (and I've not read anywhere what his plans are) he should have a serious of fights against good/decent oppoents in their "backyard" to get used to the hostile crowd. Then I would put him in with both Torres and Urango, punchers who would hurt him if he is caught badly and fighters who, like Hatton, won't stop coming forwards. Finally against the better boxers in the division. Then, after that experience he would, in my opinion, unify the division. All in 10 fights.

I'm not going to come on here and say that he is a future ATG or would dominate the 140lb division we had just 3 - 4 years ago. But he is, in my opinion, good enough to be THE man at 140 now. He just needs to constantly stay at distance and not worry about entertaining the crowd or viewers.

I just think in this game, just like every other sport, you need to prove yourself in the ring. From my experience, it's only Floyd Mayweather Jr fans who feel differently. The fact is, Paulie has lost every time he has stepped up in class. Both times...very badly.

True and that's why I know I'm swimming against the tide ... My opinions are based on gut feeling whilst the arguments against my belief are based on fact.

I can respect you for admitting it, and you clearly obviously believe it. :good I hope Paulie doesn't do you a disservice in proving you wrong.
