I knew Berto would become massively overhyped once he picked up the WBC belt. He's a good fighter but he isn't better than any of Mosley, Margarito, Williams, Judah or Clottey atm because he isn't proven at all.

First and foremost, Floyd Mayweather isn't doing a Leonard. Sugar Ray Leonard fought everybody in his division, including 4 ATG's, and was forced out of Boxing because of an eye injury. Floyd Mayweather was never forced out of Boxing, at any point.

Secondly, why are you rating Berto amongst the best in the division when he still hasn't defeated a top 10 Welterweight. Margarito, Williams, Cotto, and Mosley are the best of the division in my opinion, and Berto gets no such mention until he defeats the likes of Zab Judah, Collazo, or mixes it up with Quintana.

Floyd is listed so my vote goes for him. If he was considered retired as he is then it goes to Cotto.

If Mayweather is included than the choice is easy Mayweather. However if he is not included than it gers a little complacted. Cotto is the most talented of the remaning three, he has more good (Carlos Quintana,Oktay Urkal, Zab Judah, Shane Mosley and Alfonso Gomez) wins than Wiliams and Berto. Willams might have the two best wins over Antonio Margarito (who should be on this list as well), and Carlos Quintana. Berto in my opinion is a very good prospect and a fight or two from now he could be part of this debate but for now I think he dose not have any big ins to meret him being on the list.
My rankings (I conseder Mayweather retired so i would have him#1) look like this: 1. Miguel Cotto 32 (26) - 0 (0). He is undefeted and has five quility wins at 147.
    2. Paul Williams 34 (25) - 1 (0). His wins over Margarto and Quintana are better than any two wins that Cotto has at this weight and yes that includes Judah and Mosley who were both good fighters but past their best when Cotto beat them. Williams Loss to Quintana hurts his standing.
    3. Antonio Margarito 36 (26) - 5 (0). If he had the win over Williams he would be #2 and posibily #1. His loss to Williams was his first sence 2004 when he lost to Daniel Santos for the WBO 154 tittle. Sence than besides Willams he has not lost a fight with wins over: Sebastian Lujan, Kermit Cintron (twice), Manuel Gomez, Joshua Clottey and Golden Johnson.
    4. Andre Berto. 22 (19) - 0 (0). At 24 he is the youngest of the group and with 22 fights he is the least experanced as well. Now that he has the WBC belt he should be able to test him self aginst better compotition than he has faced so far in his career.
All four boxers are reltively young Berto is 24, Williams is 26, Cotto is 27 and Margartio is 30, which means that they all could face eachother in the future.

I agree with the man above me... Floyd is the best until proven otherwise... and if he truly is retired then it goes to Cotto easily... I really don't know how ppl pick Cotto when Floyd (the p4p number one) retired and Cotto didn't even get mention as the new p4p best. So how could Cotto be better? Cotto isn't even considered better p4p the Pacman or Calzaghe.

floyd is retired, so technically he cant be the best of the active lot.

i have cotto number one, then margo, williams, mosley and then berto.
