I think the I.B.O is slowly growing in reputation as a respectable organisation. They use unbiased computer rankings and dont enforce ridiculous manadtory defences. How credible to people think they are, do you think they are much worse than the W.B.O ?? ... Here is a quick comparison of some of their champions .... W.B.O - I.B.O Heavyweight - Wlad Klitshcko - Wlad Klitschko Cruiserweight - Vacant (was Haye) - J.M. Mormeck Light Heavy-weight - Zsolt Erdei - Antonio Tarver Super-Middle - Joe Calzaghe - Joe Calzaghe Middle - Kelly Pavlik - Kelly Pavlik Light-Middle - S. Dzindziruk - Verno Phillips Welterweight - Paul Williams - Miguel Cotto light-welter - Kendall Holt - Rickly Hatton lightweight - Nate Campbell - Manny Paquiao Super-feather - Alex Aurther - J.M Marquez Feather - Steve Luevano - Chris John Super-bantam - J.M Lopez - Israel Vazquez They dont seem to have anybody in their pockets, dont seem geographically biased, so apart from a bit of history i cant really see why/how, the wbo is slightly credible. I know mandatory challenges are in a way needed to ensure your champion defends his title against the top contenders, but look at some of the bogus mandatories J.Calzaghe had or ... Ray Austin !!! Anybody else agree that there is not muich between them ??
All the organisations are equally pathetic When you see a relatiively new champ like Chad Dawson dump the "prestigous" WBC, you know what the state of play is.
Even if it is more credible, just the fact that there are 4 other more popular organizations doing the same work will keep the IBO out of the mainstream. Assuming boxing moves toward the better in the coming years, the WBO and WBA should be abolished as well.
They're both worthless belts but you got a lot of the IBO champs wrong. Heavyweight-Wladimir Klitschko Cruiserweight-Johnathon Banks Light Heavyweight-Antonio Tarver Super Middleweight- Fulgencio Zuniga Middleweight-Daniel Geale Welterweight-Isaac Hlatshwayo Light Welterweight-Ricky Hatton Featherweight-Cristobal Cruz Bantamweight-Silence Mabuza Super Flyweight-Zolile Mbityi Flyweight-Nonito Donaire Strawweight-Nkosinathi Joyi http://www.iboboxing.com/champions.html#WORLD_CHAMPIONS
you got the champs are all wrong.. but still WBO is considered as a legit major belt. But it is as bad as I.B.O, ibo rankings however are better than wbo. I consider both organizations a level lower than wbc, wba, ibf
U need to scrap the IBF because look at that maragrito had to vacate the belt to fight cotto because he wouldn't fight a madotary, but you could have had a unified fight for both the WBA and IBF.
WBO is probably the best belt full-stop, and according to a recent yahoo poll is the best looking IBO is on a par with the WBU, below the medium 3 (WBC, IBF and WBA)
I'd like to see our own ESB poll on the best looking belt. This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected One thing's for sure, it's not the gay arse Commonwelth rainbow ****! This content is protected
For me, nothing looks better than an undisputed champion holding all three proper belts. But if I had to pick my favourite looking from the WBC, WBA & IBF it would be the classic green WBC belt. It's the belt most fighters aspire to hold.
Spot on. I mean look at the fighters who have held it good fighters as well such as Benn, Lewis, Floyd and oscar. Even your man Hopkins. I like the ring magazine belt as well. I know it is not a sanctioned belt it is good looking.
Yup it was certainly the belt Lennox held most dearly. I agree the Ring belt is a good looking belt. I don't have a problem with the Ring, it's just that I see as more of a prestigious award as opposed to a belt to defend.
