He did avenge his loss to Brewster. But this match with Sanders is stupid. Hes old. He has no chance. I love Sanders...no doubt tho he would lose to Wlad at this point.

Can everyone just shut up. The man is trying to forge a legacy for himself. History will look at him much more favourably if he is avenging a loss rather than just putting a random contender on his record.

Ibrag and Chagaev are busy with each other. Peter and Maskaev are busy with each other.

The best thing for Wlad is to deal with Sanders while he has an optional defence.

Sanders has fought recently and is coming off three wins. This is the best time to do it. Sanders is the only man who can really say I whooped Wlad from top to bottom. No fluke, no excuses, no pummelling before coming back. He just straight sparked him with speed, power, mulitple kds, you name it.

Props to Wlad. Now is the time to forge a legacy. He is in his 30s and realises he is making his last dash for the finish line. More power to him I say. I like this Wlad. He fights well, has great advice from Steward and knows what he needs to do.

It's easy to be a Wlad hater, whatever he choses to do is wrong. I think a Sanders rematch is far more interesting than the Brewster rematch could ever have been becuase Sanders destroyed Wlad so easily and quickly. Whereas, Brewster got thumped in his first fight for 4 rounds until the "poison" kicked in. If Sanders got another crack at Wlad that "what if" factor is tempting.

He might as well fight Sanders. There's no incentive to fight anyone else at this moment.

Everyone in the heavyweight division is either coming off a loss:
    Lyakhovich
    Briggs
    Ruiz
    Golota
    Toney
    Valuev
Rahman (if you don't count his recent **** showing against Taurus Skyes)

    Too Young and Unexperienced:
    Povetkin
    Virchis
    Dimentrinko
    Chambers
    Arreola
    Platov

Involved in Title Fights or Eliminators:
    Peter
    Masaev
    McCall
    Thompson
    Krasniqi
    Chagaev
    Ibragamov

Or Been Beaten thouroughly by Klitschko already:
    Byrd
    TOS
    Brock
    Brewster

If you use the Boxrec top 20 HW list (which isnt perfect but still pretty reflective of the HW division at this point) this leaves Michael Sprott and Danny Williams, who combine for 5 losses in their last 10 fights.

This leaves TWO reasonalbe options for Wlad as I see it.
Holyfield- Good Money Maker but a one-sided beat down for sure.
Sanders- He may be old but he still has fast hands and power and it only takes one punch.

He may as well go ahead and avenge the Sanders loss while waiting for the other top fighters to take care of their business.

Be fair, Sanders for a long time has been a bright spark that fizzles out. Two good rounds then he is done. Sanders potential died a LONG time ago. Way before he beat Wlad and Vitali. In fact it appears Sanders has become tougher and even more dangerous as time has gone on.

Where do you get that Sanders has seriously eroded? He is apparently still very fast, and beat his last opponent with one hand being broken in the first round. Pounded the guy with a broken hand for 9 rounds.

Sure, he's older now, but that don't necessarily mean his skills are seriously eroded.

this has to be a joke. what a waste of time that fight would be. Isnt Vlad always talking anout unification with the other HW champs? although I acknowledge it is not easy to put those fights together. But this bull**** fight? beating an old diminished Sanders does nothin for Vlad. Hopefully him and his handlers will come to their senses and find a better fight than this.

I don´t really think Sanders is worth it. He´s too old and out of shape at this point. Having said that, I still won´t complain if Wlad wants to fight Sanders as a keep busy tuneup fight and Sanders is mad enough to comply.

I actually think Wlad has a lot of other possibilities for his next fight, depending on who is willing to fight him.

    1) Karsniqi-Thompson winner - wouldn´t WBO mandatory rather have a shot at a belt now, rather than wait for the winner of Ibragimov-Chagaev?

    2) Rahman - a good name if nothing else and former champion

    3) Ruiz - see Rahman + had a close fight with Chagaev recently

    4) McCall - why wouldn´t McCall take a shot at Wlad now instead of waiting around for the WBC situation to clear?

    5) Holyfield - pretty old and washed up, but still a legendary name on a good streak

    6) Lyakhovich - recently held WBO belt, beat Brewster
    7) Briggs - recently held WBO belt, called out Wlad all the time
    8) Alexander Dimitrenko - if he´s ready for it
    9) Vladimir Virchis - if he´s ready for it
    10) Matt Skelton - a decent keep busy opponent with wins over Williams and Harrison
    11) Davarryl Williamson - rematch, since he KD Wlad before
    12) Juan Carlos Gomez - although Wlad should rather fight him in Germany for the money

Note that I would like to see him fight Valuev the most, just don´t see why Valuev would risk it.

Brewster was a good choice as he is still only 33 years old and despite losing to Liachovic, performed very well in his recent fights. Sanders is a different story thought. I dont think he will fight Sanders though, I think he will fight either Valuev or Ibragimov/Chagaev winner.

A rematch with peter would be great. IF he wins, then he will recieve the ring belt.

Vlad wanted a rematch vs Sanders and he should be able to rectify, but Sanders is fast and always dangerous for at least 5 rounds, then if Vlad wins there is the rematch with Purity

I believe that Klitschko is really looking for the best opponents. In my view that would currently be one of the other title holders or Samuel Peter. All those fighters already have another fight in front of them. So who else would be a good opponent for Klitschko?

I think it's too late for a Sanders rematch, insofar as Klitschko couldn't really avenge his loss by winning the second fight. Because the first fight is just too long ago and Sanders is too old now. A succesful rematch for Klitschko would only on paper be an avenged loss. However, that wouldn't make the rematch a mismatch. Actually, it could be an exciting fight as I expect Sanders to seize his chance and to have kept the qualities that Klitschko couldn't deal with in the first encounter.

Maybe the winner of Krasniqi vs. Thompson might be a good opponent. But that fight is a WBO eliminator, so the winner will possibly not agree to fight Klitschko.

Who else is there? J.C. Gomez... Well, I don't know...

Sounds like you didn't have much respect for Wlad to begin with. Let me guess, it his fans right? You really don't have anything against WK as a fighter :rofl

Anyway, WK had tried to get Brewster for a rematch much earlier, in fact I believe he wanted an immediate rematch but Lamon declined citing the accusations of Brewster's victory being tainted by some sinister act. Of course Lamon wanted the more challenging fights like Meehan, who shouldve gotten the decision but never deserved the shot in the first place. Or maybe that idiot in your avatar, Golota. We saw how well that fight went. :patsch

I agree but Sanders isn't a walkover for anyone since one of the last things to go when fighters age is their power and Corrie had plenty.
