At their respective primes ( i know the timeframe of Lewis' prime always causes debate,so feel free when you choose that prime to be)...but nonetheless at their best...how would this one evolve ?
Good answer. All things being equal (Manny in both corners?) I would pick Lennox. He can fight through the fire better than Waldo.
Intriging fight. Like what a previous poster said, whoever has Steward in the corner will have the advantage. Apart from that I would slightly favor Lewis in the fight because I believe he could establish an intelligent enough offence that could bypass Klitschko's guard. If Wlad catches Lewis with a clean right hand it can mark the end of the fight and vice versa.
I think Lewis is better when it comes to dealing with dangerous fighters, he tended to go into seek and destroy mode, against Wlad that's probably his best option.
I see Wlad getting stunned from a Lewis jab, looking like a deer in headlights. The guy is allergic to getting punched in the face. He'd have to fight a technically perfect fight to win, which can be done, but not with a great puncher like Lemmy standing in front of him.
Yes. Against the big boys... Grant, Briggs, Golota, Ruddock... he walked out there to destroy. Waldo would have to get thru this storm to compete. That said, if he counters, Lewis was very often open to right hands in these exchanges. If WK gets to bold as to throw his great right hand he could quickly derail LL... But I am not betting on it.
Tough call. But I gotta go Lewis in this fight. LL had more experience of tough fights and coming out the winner. Now if you took a young LL who fought Bruno I'd go Wlad. But prime for prime it's gotta be Lennox.
This is a tough fight to call because both can be stopped, Lewis 2X by one punch. I think Lewis was tougher and could rough you up with head holding and punching but he also had a great offense. Vlad has a very good defense and showed late power as well as mid-way power and perhaps better one punch power, Lewis showed early to mid power not late power. If Vlad can jab and land the right like his brother he could put Lewis in check until the Vlad rockets flair around the 7-10th rounds. I think this fight boils down to who lands the bombs first and how they take it. The early Vlad may get caught but the improved version may have to tools to take LL into the later rounds of chin testing and get the KO
I agree. Wlad's a little better pure boxer for me (we never saw a fighter jab Wlad with the success Mercer had against Lennox). Lennox's best bet is to try to turn it into a brawl to take Wlad out of his comfort zone, come out fast before Wlad can get into a rhythm, and get to Wlad before Wlad gets to him. It's not a risk-free strategy (both fighters carry the one-punch power to knock out each other, so there is no risk-free strategy for either man), but it's the one that plays into Lennox's strength and Wlad's kryptonite the best. I'll also say that if that's not Lennox's strategy and he chooses to box with Wlad, this probably won't be a very fan-friendly fight.
