This fight is BS.

Wlad should fight 15-4 coming off of multiple losses club fightin' Chisora instead.

Then i will stop crying.

 

Wlad's fought a lot of decent fighters. Chambers, Haye, Chagaev... I know his opposition hasn't been great but it's hardly his fault. It's only now there are good contenders coming through in the division. The division's been pretty dead the last few years, but Wlad's fought the best available. Who has he ducked?

 

That's not true. Peter, Liakhovich and Brewster were all top 40.

 

He has already cleaned house once, (beaten some twice, even) and is now picking the best he can get out of a very limited pool of contenders.


Wach is about as good of a choice as you can expect, at this point, given that Povetkin won't fight Wlad, nor will Fury, and Wlad has beaten everyone else, at least once.

A great big undefeated contender is not a bad choice at all. And you gotta realize EVERY champion, even Ali and Tyson, fights someone fairly unknown every now and then. They HAVE to if they are to stay active.

Helenius is injured and no fight set yet. Will he continue boxing? IMO it seems to be not sure. No word about him.

Wach is a better opponent than Helenius.

 

Good post. A healthy Helenius would KO anyone in the division not named Klitshcko. And he may very well end up doing that one day.:deal

 

I think Haye beats Helenius on points

 

Helenius has beaten 5 top 40 fighters. His lone competitive fight, vs Chisora was only b/c he torn his rotator cuff 6 weeks prior to the fight and was unable to spar, do roadwork or hit the bag even. He basically did cardio only for the last 6 weeks of camp.
I'm not for guys pulling out for minor injuries, ie pinky toe, minor sprains or strains, or minor cuts above the hairline or below the eye, but Helenius injury while running and falling was serious enough to warrant surgery prior to the bout. That fight should have been cancelled and DelBoy should have gotten in with a suitable Euro level contender like Glaskov, Pulev, or Sprott for that vacated title.

In the very first rd, Helenius threw the only meaningful R hand of the night and sent Delboy reeling across the ring. That punch, broke 2 bones in his right hand.
So he basically was fighting with 2 injuries to his power hand for 12 rds. Keeping that in consideration, the rounds were still close enough to get a homecooking decision.:deal
