Mariusz Wach gave his first interview on his loss versus Povetkin last Wednesday in Kazan, Russia. "It's not a shame to lose to a guy as talented as Povetkin. He is one of the best, if not the best, heavyweight on the planet. We have sparred a lot in the past, but this time it was different. He was in the best shape of his life, worked hard on his biceps, back, etc. and he had unlimited stamina. I have never felt so much pain in my career with his body shots. After he tagged me in round 4-5 with a lot of body shots, I wasn't able anymore to generate a power punch." Comparing Klitschko to the "new" Povetkin: "Those are the two best heavyweights in the world. Klitschko is a better fighter on the outside, but Povetkin is the better combination puncher and is also faster. I was more hurt by Povetkin than by Wlad to be honest. Povetkin throws much more hooks and Klitschko is more a jab/straight puncher. But both fighters have different styles and it his hard to compare." On his further career: "I will be 36 in December. Winning a world title will be difficult for me, but it is not a shame that I have only lost to the best two boxers in the world. I will not retire yet. I am a free agent right now and looking for the best opportunities. There have been talks before to have a big heavyweight fight in Poland with Adamek or Szpilka, but nothing is concrete at this moment."
Yeah sure, that is why Wach was pinned to the ropes hanging on for dear life in vast periods of the fight against Wlad and stayed mostly in the center of the ring against Povetkin, fighting back It's pretty obvious watching the fights that Wlad landed the cleaner and harder shots.
Not entirely clear. At the end of round 11 look at Wach in the corner. The man is in severe pain and then at the end of the match he essentially quits more than anything else. His corner and the ref ended the match, but not until he basically gave in and quite in the corner.
Wach was hurt by that left hooks to the liver. He felt the pain. Wlad's mistake was that he never attacked Wach's body.
You forget something big, that Wach was on roid against Klitschko. Was younger and was undefeated. A lot of guys are simply not the same after such hard beating. You can see the stats, Klitschko land more for sure. In the seven and eight round, Wlad was on the brink to being stopped, and if the referee was from Povetkin - Wach, he probably would stop the fight.
Look at Wach between the 11th and 12th rds. He's in misery sitting in the corner. Absolute pain. Wach standing in the corner gave the ok to throw in the towel and it was over. He ****ing quit. I never thought he would, but he did and later admitted it. I don't blame him. Povetkin clobbered the man.
The fight was stopped due to cut dude. And again he was roided against Klitschko, undefeated and younger, and wasn`t beaten to death .... You cannot be the same after the beating he took from Wlad. He was wear for sure.
Wladimir hasnt thrown a body shot since Manny Steward taught him about the invisible plane not to cross, which inevitably is crossed when a taller fighter throws a jab downstairs.:good
Round 7 and 8 tell the whole story: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j2r6xb6INKY Round 7 in the last 30 second Wach was on the verge of being knocked.
Thats because Wlads stamina problems only allow him to throw single shots. Povetkin has a better arsenal of punches than Wlad.
