    The difference between the hoods you described was the fact that they grew up with fathers. Regardless if they were dead beats or not they had a male who usually was a tough man in their life. In today's hoods (white and black) a lot of men grow up without fathers which was very different in the times previously described. That's why you see ****ed up crimes in the hood. They pretty much grew up on instinct.
