So what I’m getting from this is that Vitale ducked him.

That takes a big hit on his legacy.

"Stay away from the, uh,... colon, you know." (nervous laugh)

I don't care if he was serious. I'm just glad I got to hear that.

He’d certainly take a mouthful from the media for beating on a corpse

Setting aside Klitschko, were there any top 10-15 guys that Foreman could have beaten at the time?

Correct. Over the years I have seen countless posts stating that around this time we were in the midst of the worst era of heavyweight boxing ever. I just want to see if any of those same people that made those comments feel as though it were so bad that even an ancient Foreman could have been competitive.

Foreman had a successful "second career". Any attempt at a "third career" would only spoil the impression of the "second career".

Well, George definitely thought he saw something against Vitali he could capitalize on. And Vitali was injured a lot after that (which led to his first retirement).

Nobody at the time would've bought that fight, though.

Then again, George wouldn't have done any worse than Danny Williams did.

But nobody wanted to see him go out like that.

Danny Williams, who Vitali actually made his first defense against, was ranked.

Mike Tyson (who was losing to Williams and Kevin McBride), too. (At least he was before the Williams fight.)

Do you see Big George stopping Williams or out pointing him?
