I thought Dirrell beat him comfortably. He let Froch throw him around like a rag doll though. It kind of reminded me of the Forrest vs Mayorga rematch, where people complained that Forrest ran, although Forrest clearly out punched his opponent, just like Dirrell clearly out punched Froch at least 8-4, and also turned Croch's legs to jelly with a hard power shot, along the way. Some of Froch's best work that night, was Judo, or Wrestling as opposed to boxing.
This was a disgusting decision. One of the worst in recent times. Froch won 3rds at a stretch. I used to like Froch but he lost me for ever, not because he got a gift decision but because of the pompous arrogant post fight interview. ''Sure I won. I beat him every rd 1 thru 12.'' Then he b!tched about the way Direll wouldn't stand in front of him and slug it out. Mr. Froch the idea of boxing is to fight the fight that suits your style and prevent the other guy from fighting his fight. Direll did this well with good movement, defense and out punching him for most of the fight. Froch only landed a handful of good scoring shots in the whole fight but British crowd went crazy every time Froch threw some thing. The neutral judging panel did not have the intestinal fortitude to render an honest decision probably out fear of retaliation of the bias crowd. Froch was well beaten by a superior and more skilled boxer and is one the most over rated fighters of recent times.
Taylor was also schooling Froch for most of their fight. Froch was real good at soaking up blows and coming late.
Dirrell got robbed. It was a 10-2 decision and there's absolutely no way I could've scored it any other way. I don't like Dirrell, he's too negative of a fighter but this was an absolute coasting by Dirrell. Also, after losing to a prime Kessler and beating a past prime Kessler, you have to think...well Froch isn't that good then. He's not HOF worthy but unfortunately he'll be given credit he doesn't deserve.
It's not 'clutching at straws' at all. Dirrell was flat out robbed. When I think about Whitaker's career, I never say he 'drew' with Chavez, it was a proper victory.
Accept he didn't. Froch took over from the middle of the fight and at the time of the first knockdown, most on press row had Taylor just one round ahead. Yet another misconception by people who want to take a swipe at Froch. Direll was a disgrace in their fight (ironic title) and ran the whole time or if he couldn't run just started grabbing and hugging. A draw was probably a fair result, but how anyone can justify that sort of fighting is beyond me. Look at Ward, Mayweather and both of whom who have a reputation for holding or spoiling. You will see that whilst the reputation is probably warranted, they do actually engage in the fight instead of just running away or hugging as a first instinct. Direll looked worried every time Froch touched him and tried to steal a victory.
Difficult fight to score, quite a few times Dirrell turned his back on Froch and literally ran to avoid punishment. Not boxing on the back foot and being defensive running which seems to be a popular term on here but actually running away. Dirrell landed more blows no doubt but when a large part of that involves turning your back on your opponent then you can't give the guy the round, a DQ maybe but not the round. Dirrell also complained about rabbit punching when he had literally turned his back on Froch. I thought Dirrell had ***** of steel in the Degale fight and was rooting for him, his performance against Froch however was pretty much the only time I've ever called a boxer a coward. He was disgraceful.
I give Froch full credit for the Taylor win. He was breaking him down and then took him out in great style. I see Froch's resume like this: W Taylor W Abraham W Pascal W Past Prime Kessler W Bute W Groves x 2 L Ward L Dirrell L Prime Kessler Groves being a B- fighter. The others being solid wins. Froch is elite but he's not quite a HOF'er. He needed one more big win, maybe a rematch victory over Dirrell.
