How is Joe hated on ESB when he was undefeated, clearly one of the best ever at 168,had an exciting style

GGG is in his 30s and has one good win on his resume,Macklin...

Why is Joe so hated but GGG praised?

Is it cause Joe beat down American ATGS jones jr and Bhop?

GGG will fight anyone and he wins in good fashion. Joe was a great fighter, I gave him the Hopkins fight but RJJ was pretty much shot to ****.

Because remedial causual fans fall in love with power and overrate fighters because of it.

  5. GGG is willing to fight anyone, its not his fault that 154-168 are cowards

    Me too^.

The issue is a bit like the Pac - Floyd, Vitali - Lewis one. Some fans just need to put their idol above all rivals. They get really angry when someone disagrees. Plenty of 'Zaggy fans do it too. In Joes case he was roughly contemporary with RJJ and fighting in similar divisions.

You may not have noticed but there's plenty of 'Zaggy fans who are keen to rubbish Roys achievements too (plenty of guys who are contemptuous of Golovkin also).

It baffles me personally - how folk will go all tribal, and seem unable to appreciate some of the greats of their eras simply outta being stubbornly partisan.

I like 'Zaggy, I like Roy, I like GGG etc. In fact the only fighters I really dislike are those who display anti-social behaviour or attitudes (ie Violence against Women/Children, racism etc) - and even that doesn't stop me from appreciating their boxing skills, just makes me root for their opponents.

This sounds right for a lot of folks around here . . . but I hate both RJJ and Slappy Joe, mainly because of their fans. I like GGGGG but his fans haven't quite got to me yet.

No one divides Eastside opinion like the Newbridge Assassin :deal

GGG is looking like an ATG in the making, but lets let him prove himself as a pro like Joe did first

I get what you mean, but I just try to remember that it ain't boxers' fault that a minority of their fans are rabid lunatics. What the f#ck do I care what moron fanboys and haters have to say anyhow? I just appreciate watching great fighters and great fights.:good

Willingness to fight anyone. Fighting dangerous fights with low reward. Great performances ending in spectacular fashion.

GG is 31 y/o and his best win is Macklin.

I don't see Flamingo legs fighting anybopdy at 168.
If anybody is a coward it's him.

I'd say the fundamental difference is that GGG has dared to step out onto the world stage. There's a big difference between going out seeking the big fights, not getting them and saying you're being avoided, vs......not leaving your comfort zone, going nowhere, not getting big fights and saying your being avoided.

Edit: I'd also add that GGG is still an unfinished product. Who knows what the future holds.
