Because i just looked on Calzaghe's wiki page, it says that he'll be fighting Pavlik for the WBO middleeight title, it specifically say's:

"On
This content is protected
, 2008 it was announced that Calzaghe's next opponent would be
This content is protected
with his WBO middleweight title on the line"

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_Calzaghe

I havn't really been paying attention to who Clazaghe might be fighting next, the last i heard he was fighting RJJ then i read this, dunno if im reading to much into this source, but does anyone else have another source? Is this fight happening?

Calzaghe would actually get my respect if he fought in America, fought at middle weight, and beat Kelly Pavlik. It won't happen cause we all know Joe just doesnt have the grapes for it.

What a ridiculous post.

How the hell do you think Calzaghe can get down to 160? He struggles enough getting down to 168 you idiot :patsch

My conclusion is that he is a woman and thats why he cannot get down to 160, I walk around at around 190-200lbs and I can get down to 160 its not hard. So ask yourself is it that he can't or that he won't (because he has a vagina).

I call MAJOR BUUUUUL****. So you can drop 30-40 pounds with ease? Highly doubtful...

Yeah and i bet most of that weight you lose is probably fat, which isn't exactly hard to lose, while Calzaghe at 168 is as ripped as he can be, how do you expect him to lose a further 8 pounds :nut :patsch

Anyways i guess the source in the thread may not be correct, thought it was strange that Calzaghe would fight for the middleweight title, ahwell hope this fight comes evetually anyways.

....wow.

That's like saying "David Haye would earn my respect if he came to America, went down to LHW and beat Antonio Tarver."

Calzaghe can't make 160...Pavlik says he wants to move up to 168.

So WHY should this happen at 160 again?

No it takes time but I have done it before. The rule of thumb is that you can safely drop about a max of 2lbs a week so it has to be done over the course of 15-20 weeks (3- 5 months). Its not hard at all it takes patience and commitment but its not difficult. No need to act like its far too difficult to even fathom.

I'm not acting like it's impossible. Obviously losing 30-40 pounds is very possible. Been done to death. But you were saying how easy it is. How easy YOU could lose that weight. Have you? :huh If so, major props.

He could lose eight more it wouldnt be that difficult. Look at Kelly Pavlik, he's almost 6'3 and he can get down to 160, its conceivable that Joe could too. I am just saying that it would be an extrodinary challenge.

Did it for football every year in high school, and most recently for amateur boxing. It depends, I didnt struggle with losing the weight at all cause it was a simple matter of lifestyle change thats it. You have to be patient and disciplined but, I never considered it a challenge therefore its always seemed easy. I dont think its out of Calzaghes realm.

Right on! Must've been some ball busting work. :good

It's still pretty bad to say what another person can or can't do. Joe's talked of moving up for years now. No way he can move down and be effective.

For Calzaghe to make his mark on history and silence his critics while simultaneously challenging himself. Think how sweet it would be to see someone being the ring champion at Middleweight, Super Middle weight, and Light Heavy. I think it would put an end to the entire Calzaghe resume debate. You would have no choice but tip your hat to him, sadly I don’t think Joe has the fortitude to even think about the accomplishment.
