Taking a knee is a sign of quitting. Yeah Calderon quit, just like how Cotto quit against Margarito but I think there's nothing wrong quitting under those conditions. Choosing to quit in order to live another day in a much better health condition.

Look at Cotto now, he's again a champion.

  4. for real, man. quitting is a cardinal sin in boxing. i hate it when it happens. thats what corners are for. corners should really stop fights before the boxer has to quit.

Yes he did quit, it was either that or a brutal knock out. Just like DLH could of continued against Hopkins but knew he was going to get streched, he decided to stay down.

    Whatever you call it.:D

"Quitting" after receiving a prolonged brutal beating is understandable. Quitting after receiving one or few punches is up for criticism. It all depends on the conditions that made the person quit.

Also I won't label a person who only quit once a quitter. But if he quit more than once then he's a quitter.

Calderon quit because there was no chance for him to win, and he was getting broken down. He's getting older and can't compete with bigger, stronger guys anymore. Give the guy his props for hanging in as long as he did. The guy has no power at all, and is always undersized. Let's just hope he calls it a career. This is a sign that he's about done.

Right. Because the corner knows how the fighter feels better than the fighter himself does.

There's no shame in quitting the fight if you're getting hurt and beaten up, and you know you can't turn it around. The only ***** job of a quit I really ever saw in the ring was Duran v. Leonard.
