Wait, why is GGG still P4P #1 on Ring Magazine?

I'm no Lomachenko fan but he's clearly #1 at the moment, with Bud Crawford #2.

GGG hasnt looked hot in his last few fights. Even at his best, its hard to call him P4P #1 because hes only ever done it at middleweight. He has never proven that his skills transcend his own size, which guys like Loma and Bud have, moving through the weight classes being dominant regardless.

Crawford hasn't been the smaller man in any of his fights against anyone decent, really. Golovkin has. Several times. People often move up because they can't make that weight anymore. They aren't looking for tougher challenges. Either that or there is a bigger fight in a different weight class.

Golovkin has beaten better competition than Crawford and Lomachenko especially if you consider the Canelo fight a win. Lomachenko's best win is Walters. The Jacobs that Golovkin beat > Walters. Crawford's best win is either Postol or Gamboa (at that time).

Lomachenko is not clearly #1. You can make an argument for him, but Crawford has a much stronger claim to the p4p throne right now.

Using your logic....Why is Spence in 8th?

He's beat 1 World champion and one top 10 opponent in 23 fights and never moved up.

    Wilder/Joshua > Spence.

Golovkins was lucky to get the W over Jacobs, and he struggled against a smaller man in Canelo. His best uncontroversial win is Martin Murray.

Loma and Crawford have the better legit wins.

I'd say it's the opposite. Loma has the stronger claim. He's beaten better guys. And looks to be more skilled fighter.

You can't show me 7 rounds Jacobs won. Being competitive is not winning. We don't give out participation trophies.

Don't forget, 3G dropped Jacobs. What 8 to 9 rounds did he score for Jacobs

No you still just need 7 even with a knockdown. The knockdown just makes it so it can't be a draw pretty much.

My theory is that Canelo is the money man in boxing, so if and when Canelo beats GGG, he would have beaten the #1 P4P fighter according to Ring (ODLH's company), coupled with his very impressive resume, he will be marketed as the best P4P fighter since Mayweather, making him even more marketable and enhancing his legacy by having a win over the P4P#1 fighter.

    Oscar is a sly fox.

Yes, you can easily score 7 rounds for Jacobs. Most people on the RBR thread on here thought he deserved the W.

They don't know how to score a fight then. Objectively, there is no way he won 7 rounds. He was outlanded in nearly every round, Golovkin hand ring generalship every round, dropped him in 1 round, dealt more damage in nearly every round, and was forcing the fight. Golovkin may have landed at a higher connect percentage as well but I'm not sure. You don't win a fight if your opponent did all of that.

You are obviously entitled to your opinion about who should be pfp #1. Bud and Lomachenko are worthy candidates. Looking at it another way, GGG beat a bigger man with excellent speed and elite boxing skills in Jacobs and another elite pfp boxer, most likely benefiting from PED’s, in Canelo. Not too bad for GGG.
But as Lance mentioned, your pfp criteria of weight hopping shows a lack of understanding of the pfp meaning. It’s meant to determine who is best regardless of weight class not who is best jumping around through weight classes.
That’s why both Marvin Hagler and Bernard Hopkins were pfp #1 for years.
