no but a lot people get undeserving title shots - last week lee purdy?? and if crolla beat rees he would become an option for burns same as if rees wins he will become an option now burns has got a couple of easy touch defences coming up after gettin the mandatory out of the way by the skin of his teeth
Nothing at all against ricky but the 5-6 fights before he won the world title did his level of opposition deserve a world title shot!
Laraya earned his shot by beating Paul and Eversen hadn't beaten anyone of note. The Cook fight was one one the worst mismatches of the year. I seem to recall a lot of people wondering how Ricky got his shot at Rocky too. Crolla is still younger than Burns was when he faced Martinez. It wasn't till then that Ricky really came into his own. If you don't like Joe fair enough but I think you should leave his fighters out of it.
I also don't understand this perception that Gallagher isn't good technically Scott quigg is a lovely technical boxer He has also had macklin,John and joe Murray, the smiths of which Callum is again a technically gifted boxer He has many talented young lads going to him like smith and cardle from the gb set up So I'm sure his reputation as a fitness coach is underserved
No I've always said hello to joe when we see each other,he simply shouldn't say a domestic fighter would expose flaws in a undefeated world champion, think he's made himself look very silly indeed.
What Ricky did do was win about 14 fights in a row beforehand,Anthony has lost and drawn with Derry and lost in prizefighter.no comparison really is there, not to mention what Ricky's done since he won the title.
He only mentioned Ricky should Anthony get through Gavin,if I were him I'd be focusing on Gavin coz that's going to be Anthony's hardest fight to date by a long long way
As I say I've nothing against Joe it just puzzled me how he thinks Anthony will expose Ricky's flaws,he should deal with his own boxers flaws
I think most people stopped taking Gallagher seriously after what he let happen to Murray during the Rios fight.
Not questioning what hes gone on to do since he won the world title but them 14 wins in a row that your talking about how many of them were credible opponents ive just looked at his record and i would say 2 maybe 3
Hang on, let me get this right, you're having a go at another trainer because he is backing a fighter he trains against a fighter you train? Don't you do exactly the same thing? Secondly, they have every right to fancy their chances and say that they think they can be the ones to expose Ricky's flaws if they ever meet that is! Regardless of the Rees fight. Ricky's flaws were "exposed" for 6 or 7 rounds against Jose Gonzalez, but of course you will say "that wasn't the real Ricky in the ring." ....it wasn't the real Ricky Burns that we have been used to mainly because of Jose Gonzalez, partly down to ring rust, maybe, but mainly down to Jose Gonzalez. Give him the credit he deserves. Isn't Ricky the fittest fighter in the land? Dont you say you know how good Ricky is day in day out? Didn't Ricky train for two fights that didnt happen? How can you "have a go" at Gallagher for doing exactly the same thing you yourself do Billy? GETTING BEHIND HIS FIGHTERS NO MATTER WHAT!!! They are not overlooking Rees, anymore than you have by looking forward to the likes of Vazquez, Abril, Broner, Gamboa etc etc Come on man! :-(
