Thanx to a couple historians from cyberboxing historians for bailing me out. I had been searching for ages for this.

Anyway a couple things the historians told me I found interesting. Famous Hall of Fame trainer Ray Arcel Called Lee Q Murray "The biggest hitter in the heavyweight division besides Joe Louis." Murray was 6'3 210lb so Walcott once again showed he does not have problems vs bigger men.

    Hoff was 6'6 220lb
    Louis 6'2 213lb
    Murray 6'3 210lb
    Baksi 6'1 218lb

    DISQUALIFY MURRAY
    FOR NOT FIGHTING
    Baltimore, Nov. 13 —Lee Q.
    Murray, the Norwalk, Conn., battler
who had won 11 straight fights in
    Baltimore rings, was disqualified for
stalling in the ninth round of his
    scheduled 10-round bout at the
Coliseum last night with Jersey Joe
    Walcott.
    Walcott, 1B9, Camden, N. J.,
was awarded the decision on the
basis of having taken every round
and the aggressor all the way.
    After the main event, Referee
    Eddie Leonard gave this explanation:
"It was an unusual decision, but
if the match had been declared no
contest Walcott, who tried to make
a fight of it. would have been penalized
    along with Murray. Walcott was
named the winner because he tried."

Imagine if they had a DQ for stalling these days...the closest we had was Byrd-Williamson. Might not be a bad idea actually, cut down on the posing, make things busier.

So what actualy happened in there?

Did Murrays plan go out of the window, did he go into a shell, or was he wearing the cuffs.

naw the cuffs werent on mendoza. why would murray rated # 3 in the world not give 100% vs another BLACK fighter walcott? Ray Arcel called Lee Q murray the divisions hardest hitter next to louis".....I talked with a historian and we came to the conclusion that Murray realized early on that walcott was too cute and skilled for him and that he was not going to win, so he simply gave up..... I can imagine walcotts waltz must have done a number on murray early on

Walcott when on was quality. Murry was a puncher but not a fighter in the class of Walcott. He made you pay when you missed and had some great leg movement and shifts and had power in both hands. He was a late bloomer like B-Hop and settled down with age when he had the luxery to train properly. There were no cuffs on Murry just hands and legs
