    As publicity for their rematch Harry Mendel the publicist charged Marciano with having deliberately butted Walcott causing a cut on his eye. To further his claims he had Walcott get into a ring with a Billy Goat and push him back trying to provoke a series of butts from the goat,unfortunately for the Walcott camp the Goat wouldn't play ball.Mendel wanted to bring the Goat to the arena for the rematch but the IBC vetoed the idea.

    That's strange, I read the title as he Sparred with the Greatest Of All Time, not an actual goat

    Marcianos opponents took him so lightly that they had them sparring with circus animals.
    And this is the "champion" you all put on a pedestal?

    Lowry beat him too.

    I don't see the point of this ,but then I don't see the point of a lot of your pithy asides,my loss I suppose.


    Just read it in Sullivan's bio of Marciano. I like to do research on subjects that interest me.

    That's the reason Marciano steamrolled him, you have to spar with a BOAT to prepare yourself for what the Rock brings......

    Wonder if this was the famous Billy Goat Gruff ,Who retired with a record of 66fights and 5 defeats???
    Billy's toughest fight came against A.Troll of course .Which ended with Gruff knocking Troll over the bridge ..At the time of this fight BGG was an actual 1000 to 1 Under dog !!
