Aaaaaaaaaaa......survival job. Wlad's problem is that as long as Walcott is surviving he is a serious threat. Walcott is a sneaky sneaky fighter capable of ditching nearly anyone with a punch. Given that this is the case, what is it he can do with Wlad's dodgey chin? Stop him? Definitely possible IMO. The problem Walcott has is, Wlad fights to his weaknesses. He fights to control range and tempo. So Walcott isn't trying to trick someone who wants to come and beat him up, a traditional stalker or a pressure fighter. Nor, even, a traditional box-puncher with some cautios tendancies in the Charles mode. He is fighting a safety first giant with heavy hands and a very fine jab. I think Walcott would get jabbed to death on the cards, but not really busted up. He is elusive and smart with arguably the best footwork in the history of the HW division. I don't think the time where Wlad would say, "right, that's it, i'm safe, he's ready to go" would come, and so I see Walcott on the end of the Wlad jab througout a 12 round fight dropping a boring decision. Fifteen is a little more interesting, because Walcott has longer to make it interesting, but I still think Wlad.
I think this is strictly a survival job for Wlad. Walcott will dump him on the canvas a couple of time with sneaky counters regardless of the outcome of the fight. I also think that Wlad is going to have to do more than jab and hold to get the decision. He would need to employ combination punching and risk taking some counters. If I were a betting man I would chance a flutter on Walcott but I wouldnt be surprised if Wlad outpointed him.
A prime Walcott vs a pre-Steward Wlad has a pretty good chance. An improved Klitschko however, has my vote to use his jab and size to prevent Jersey from becomming a threat.
Mcgrain, This is one point I see different on. Walcott had excellent head movement slipping Jabs. Joe Louis had a jab argueabably as good/if not better than Wladimir Klitschkos and Walcott had a very good slip ratio in there fight. I think in the rematch if you watch round 11 midway theres a scene where walcott on his toes does a fancy footwork dance and louis throws a triple combo jab and walcott makes him each jab by like 2". beautiful thing to watch. When you get a chance, Mcgrain order Hein Ten Hoff vs Walcott. It will give you a good chance to see how walcott does against someone of Wladimir's size and style and some skill. Now notice how i underlined that word, because I think Wladimir is clearly the superior fighter to Hoff, but you can see with your own two eyes in there 1950 fight that Hoff did have skills movement and had a pretty fluid jab. Hoff was undefeated 6'6 84" reach, I think Walcott eludes Hoffs jab very well and makes it look effortlessly at times...Walcott had a knack for fighting taller men Walcott defintley has the power to knockout Wlad, as does Wlad. This is a very interesting fight. Wladimir's offensive skills makes this a much tougher fight for Walcott, than he would have vs Vitali. Wladimir has the finishing skills to put walcotts lights out and has the skills along with his size to box with Walcott.
I agree with you that Walcott is great at slipping and ducking jabs, and i'll consider the fight you've rec'd to me, but notice I say that he gets busted up on the cards rather than physically. Because he would be ditching a lot of these shots, enough to stay healthy, but I don't think enough that he can keep ahead on the cards. The reach is the issue for me. I see it one of two ways. Wlad wins a dull one on the jab, or Walcott tricks Wlad onto something horrible, and I think the first is more likely.
Yes I can see your point. I tend to think the late 1990s wladimir who threw amazing combinations and utilized his devastating left hook more often, has a better chance of stopping Walcott. Wladimir to me in his prime displayed some of the best offensive skills I have ever seen. He has real two fisted power and finishing skills and whip for a jab. Im not fond of this new wlad, no way he can get away with lazily pawing his jab against walcott to work and then clinch his way to a decision...if he fights like he does now predictablity and tries to land his one big right hand he will end up walking into a counter right hand trap from jersey joe. If the prime wlad shows up, walcott has to be very careful. Wlad had the skills of a 6'6 82" reach fighter to make even the slickiest of ring masters like Walcott quite the burden to get himself into range so he can hit wlad without paying a dear price himself. That Wladimir could fight with walcott at all ranges and be a real storm for walcott on the ropes. Of course, Wlad having a panic attack can't be left out of the equation either. when he was in tight spots, he did suffer from them, which is why he lost to brewster, purrity, and nearly sam peter.
What do you mean by panic attack? Did you seen Puritty fight? He was gassed in 11th after throwing 30-40 power punchers per round. brewster fight was pretty much for same reason. Walcott is no best chin ever for sure. If joe could Ko him so can wlad.
Ponyboy Curtis, I am a huge wlad fan. Unfortunetley I have had to suffer from watching him lose to vastly inferior opponents like Purrity Brewster and Lamon Brewster because of Panic Attacks. A Panic attacks are very sudden, discrete periods of intense anxiety, mounting physiological arousal, fear, and discomfort that are associated with a variety of somatic and cognitive symptoms. The onset of these episodes is typically abrupt, and may have no obvious triggers. Although these episodes may appear random, they are a subset of an evolutionary response commonly referred to as fight or flight that occur out of context. This response floods the body with hormones, particularly epinephrine (adrenaline), that aid it in defending against harm. My Mother told me my Father when he played proffesional Minor League baseball in the 70s used to get them too. When Wlad thought he was getting tired, he would freak out and start gasping for air and all of a sudden he had no energy left. In fact he was not tired physically , it was all mental. He thought he was alot more tired than he was. He thought he couldn'nt breathe, he was fine. He was just having a bad panic attack. If you watch the 3rd Sam Peter kd, sam doesnt land a punch Wlad just goes runs out of wind and goes down appearing like hes tired. He was having another short panick attack, but luckily he was able to shake that one off and comeback and win the fight like a champ. He was destroying both, especially brewster. He gassed out because he "thought" he was gassed out. It was all mental with Wlad. It was a panic attack. It happens to world class athletes when they get put through adversity, Wladimir freaked out. Walcott had a very good chin. He faced more punchers than any heavyweight champion except Ali and Lennox.
Little агн like Marchiano Koed him. Why wlad can't? How do you know about panics? The panic attacks showed in sloppiness and strange actions. In puritty fight he was so gassed out and Ross took advantage of it by pushing him on the canvas. And brewster fight was gay. He was dieing since 1st round when he went to the corner looking like ****. The 3rd KD in peter fight was legit(unlike first 2). Wlad was folding straight back and peter catched him wis punch that did actualy damaged wlad but pushhed him on the ropes.
A panic attack is an interesting theory. I certainly thought it odd that a world-class athlete, whom Freddie Roach claims runs 8 sets of half-mile runs each under 3 minutes would be gassed against Brewster like he was. He simply looked like he was dying.
1. I do feel like Wlad can Kayo him. Wlad has the offensive tools and firepower to put walcotts lights out. Wladmir's 1-2 is the best ive seen since muhammad ali. I also Feel Walcott has the ability to knock Wladimir out too. 2. Marciano is an ATG puncher too just liek wlad, don't underate the little guy My memories not fresh, but it was one of the 3 knockdowns Wlad went down without being hit....he appeared like he was out of wind then just dropped to a knee huffing and puffing.
I think Andrew Golota definatly suffered from them...it showed in the Lewis fight ...it could also be the effects of steriods...Ike Ibeabuchi suffered from steriod rage and so did Tyson
