Ellis is not Wlad's poison. He'd be a boxer, not a puncher and a very, very disadvantaged one at that, size-wise. He's possibly a perfect example of how to showcase what the rare athletic, refined super heavyweight with hand speed is capable of. I watched a rather faded Floyd Patterson against what I'd think was a prime Ellis, challenging for Ellis' title when there was Frazier and Ellis both holding a strap post-Ali-exile. Ellis was a fine boxer, really, but a Floyd who couldn't pull the trigger anything like a prime Floyd was busting him up when he landed flush. Wlad would've smashed him. Badly. Inside six, I think.

Ellis would take a long, steady beating and will not make it to the end of the fight. It's amazing how some people here expect a (not too hard hitting) cruiserweight having a chance against (or even beating) Wlad.

To beat Wlad you have to be a puncher, plain and simple. You don't have to be big (although it helps), but you need a big punch because it's the only method we've seen so far to beat him.

To Jimmy Ellis credit he was a very good boxer and he did beat the likes of Jerry Quarry who was a top contender as well as winning the HW tournament post Ali (when Ali was unfairly stripped of title) to become the paper linear HW champ. I think Ellis is better than Ross Purity and Lamon Brewster so this is no cake walk for Wlad at all.

Ellis wasnt really a heavyweight he fought in lighter divisions

When Ali was in exile Dundee took him and made him champ. Dundee knew Ellis was not a real heavyweight and was a temporary money grab til a good fighter came along like Frazier or Ali returned

Wlad eats these guys for lunch. Chris Byrd wasnt a true heavy like Ellis and he took him apart.

No disrespect for Ellis but Elllis just does not have what it takes
