Brought up watching fights in the 80s/90s.. demise of the heavyweight division started with Lennox Lewis imo.

Not when it's illegal. Literally every time Povetkin tried to approach and engage Wlad, he was held or pushed down. The ref should be doing his job and disallowing it. The ref actually did end up warning Wlad twice, but it only came by, what, round 12? Wlad probably keeps tabs on refs in the boxing world who don't allow too much clinching and had them personally banned from his contracts.

It's only illegal if the ref calls it. Blame the ref.

The ref saw Povetkin was coming in below the waistline, that's why he allowed the holding. He should have warned and deducted BOTH fighters, Povetkin for coming in illegally and Wlad holding illegally. He chose to let both have their way. His choice.

I actually felt sorry for Sasha, he clearly had a game plan and the first couple rounds he was able to at least make contact but the weight of the 181 clinches was just too much for him in the end.

What Clit performed today was not even close to boxing. For just a few very moments it looked something that might have been boxing, but most of the time it didn't have any kind of resemblance to the sport of boxing.

I wish these Ukrainian ***s will be banned from boxing rinks so that they can't do even more damage the sport. They have done enough, already.
