Wale Omotoso moved to 23 and 0 with a UD win this morning over Daniel Sostre on the Martinez vs Chavez Jnr undercard.
This guy is hardly a step up. In fact his last 3 fights have been against pretty ordinary guys who all had losing streaks. I thought after the Lanardo Tyner fight where he was pushed they would step up his level again. This kind of **** disappoints me.
That was Wale's 5th fight in the States and one might have expected a better rated opponent by now. But they seem to be moving him along carefully and nobody expected he'd be fighting a Bradley or a Malignaggi by this stage. On the positive side, Wale gained valuable exposure on a monster card in Nevada televised to a huge audience. I'd expect a much better opponent next up.
He broke his hand last fight thats why this wasnt much of a step up look for him to in back in the ring before the end of the year on pac-jmm4
It's due to the Calvin Odom scare. They're handling Wale just fine, IMO. He's getting different looks at different styles, but staying away from punchers for the time being. While the Top Rank PPV undercard streams aren't exactly reaching a massive audience, he is getting seen regularly and generating word of mouth interest. Sostre obviously isn't any great shakes but he did bring a tricky style and Omotoso was able to dominate every round and work on a few things.
