Alex is fine as long as his opponent is standing directly in front of him a la Cronje, Mirovic, Wilson & Kirby. I havn't seen the Takehara fight but I have seen him fight and I'm guessing he didn't give that advantage to him.

What does sparring have to do with anything? My argument is based on his performance last night.

My point is there wasn't much on offer from him last night to strike fear into the top echelon of the division. He starts quick each round and then fights in spurts. He'll always have a punchers chance but I fear that if he ever does progress further up the rankings, the damage hes accumulated along the way will come back to haunt him. Hes taken some serious shots already from de Mori, Cronje and last night from Walker. Thats not healthy for a heavyweight.

I wish him all the best but I don't see him as a legitimate threat. His biggest advantage is the imminent retirements of the brothers Klit creating oppurtunities for guys on the fringes of the division.

And by the way, awesome work by Jamie Myer to arrange some press for Alex today, the day after the fight by trying to arrange an intervview with Walker to give Alex a push. May have been wiser to do that before the fight.
