AJ ain't fighting anyone decent anytime soon. His trainer & him need about 5 more fights to implement their crappy new boxing plans. Like he didn't fight in the Olympics or have over a decade of experience. There are good fights all over the place and he not taking any of them. Wallin would embarrass him & you know AJ is not ready for another lefty mover. But then again he isn't ready for punchers like Wilder & Zhang either.
Joshua getting smashed by Ruiz just proved how over rated he was. Ruiz couldn't even wobble Liakhovich in a close fight. Wallin is a better back foot boxer then Joshua, smarter and tougher. Beating Wallin via schooling or KO would be a significant one up on Fury. Far more upside then beating a part time factory worker in Franklin. But Hearn and AJ steered well away and ducked Wallin just as Whyte did 10 days out.
I think that this is a good fight for AJ to take. Wallin is not a big puncher so AJ wouldn't have to be so cautious and could work on his technique it would put him in good stead for a future fight with Fury. I would favor AJ to win by decision.
They had two close fights in the amateurs, at least one of which Wallin feels he won, and they've sparred over 200 rounds together as pros. “Ottomatic” has a history with Joshua. They fought twice in the amateurs and then sparred 200 rounds as Joshua prepared for his title-winning fight against Charles Martin. “Some of Joshua’s people told me not to unpack my bags because I wouldn’t be staying long,” explained Wallin. He answered their doubts with his fists and spent seven weeks in camp as Joshua’s chief sparring partner. “AJ came to learn that I’m nobody’s sparring partner,” Wallin said. “I think he felt that we would one day meet again – not in a spar but a fight. “I gave him problems. We were a real test for each other. But Anthony has character and I believe he welcomes a challenge. “AJ, tell Eddie Hearn that Ottomatic is the guy you want facing you on June 1, not Michael Hunter.”
Difficult to judge Aj's mental elf from fight to fight. If he's confident, he should be favoured to do Wallin serious damage and maybe get the KO. If he isn't confident, then I'd still back him to win - by robbery decision.
Wallin landed more punches on Fury then Klitschko & Wilder 1 put together. Wallin vs Joshua is the perfect fight for both fighters
The value of an educated jab Wallin would force Joshua into a war of attrition which AJ doesn't want then piece him up in the later rounds. Can't wait to see who this under rated Swedish technician boxes next. This content is protected
My view Is Otto is a live dog vs. AJ. Wallin would take the fight... but would Joshua? The Whyte fight should've happened. Where is Whyte? Semi-retired? Going on a year since he edged Franklin.
Big Joshie admitted he had trouble with southpaws. Wallin is a big one who isn't 40 years old, can take some damage and comes in shape and to win. Wallin 8 rounds to 4. Official cards Big Joshie 116-112 x3.
