Walters trying to price himself out of the Lomachenko fight

600-700k seems fair.

 

When these guys end up broke and brain damaged, the fans,promoters, or tv networks aren't going to care. They should get paid what they deserve.

Rigo got less than that for fighting Donaire in a superfight. Walters needs to take the money and beat Loma to become the n.1 p4p fighter in boxing.

 

The problem is that HBO doesn't care about boxing, and boxing needs another Tyson urgently, he doesn't need to be a heavyweight though, just an american KO artist with a persona and confidence.

 

Walters has the same problem as Rigondeaux... He wants an unreasonable paycheck for the beating he knows he is going to take. Disgraceful, Lomachenko should've stayed in the Olympic game where fighters are fighters.

 

No reason for Loma not to get a bit more for going to Walters' weight class - 57-43 is a fair split for that.

I don't blame Walters for holding out for more, and im not terribly concerned about the fight falling through. It'll get made.

 

Ideally, HBO would toss 2.5 mil at this and get the fight made. Unfortunately, this isn't 2000 and that's not going to happen. The annual boxing budget looks to be around a quarter of what it was at its peak, give or take.

This is the new normal, and fighters have to adjust to it.
