That would have been far and away his biggest pay day. It seemed he knew he couldn't win on the cards even before they put on gloves. Skill wise he is probably right. Nevertheless, go in to try and KO the guy. Just seems like a poor excuse for a competitor to me.
Boxed Ears knows the exact figure if you want to know. Drop him a private message as he was actually party to some of the negotiations.
If it's true????? Might be a huge mistake due to his recent poor showing Sosa and his weight problem vs Marriaga. He's not the big man at 130 and it appears that was his ace at 126. Not sure he's gonna make that type of $$$ if he doesn't adapt to 130 and find a plan B vs the top SFWs. :think
"Lomachenko is one of the better opponents that we're gonna fight," Walters told RingTV.com on Tuesday. "We asked for a certain amount; they said no. They said only $550,000 was available for the fight and I think fighting Lomachenko for $550,000 with the tax we're gonna pay to the government and everybody, we actually go home with nothing. We took the decision; we're not gonna fight for $550,000." Interesting that Walters has never had a problem paying tax on smaller purses (i.e all of his purses). he also said it's impossible to get a decision against someone like Loma, forgetting that someone has in fact already got a decision over Loma
walters is a ducker for turning down his "biggest payday"...but ggg isn't for turning down what would have been his biggest against ward I honestly wouldn't fight loma for 500k either if I were walters...
Shock, the math is real lol... Walters told the truth yet his truth is ignored. You either read Arums quote or Loma's people's on this matter.
The career best pay day excuse doesn't fly here. Stop acting like you know what's going on because all I see are lies posted on this matter.
He just can't win the fight and he knows it. He's like a Diego Corrales, killing himself to make an unnaturally low weight to have a size advantage over his opponents. Then, once he moves up and starts fighting guys more his own size he's very beatable.
Walters shamelessly ducked Lomachenko. Disgusting. Walters if he won was being offered $850k. Walters has been fighting for peanuts, even against Donaire. Lomachenko follows him into 130lbs giving away weight advantages (Loma is best at 126), and Walters is still a chicken.
