should be great standing war, i think wanderlei will get the tko third round, by the way he looked against akiyama in the 3rd, but then again he took it on like 2 weeks notice, so excited about it

Chris Leben is getting what he asked for and fighting his personal hero, Wanderlei Silva, at UFC 132 on July 2 in Las Vegas, NV.
The UFC made the fight announcement early Monday evening via their website, UFC.com.
Silva (33-10-1, 1 NC) last saw action nearly 14 months ago at UFC 110: Nogueira vs. Velasquez where the former PRIDE light heavyweight champion fought three rounds with Michael Bisping. The fight ended in decision with Silva getting the nod, although Bisping was vocal about believing he won the fight.
Leben (25-7) was last seen in a losing effort against Brian Stann at UFC 125: Resolution in January earlier this year. The loss was his first after three impressive wins in 2010 against Jay Silva, Aaron Simpson and then Yoshihiro Akiyama.
A couple weeks ago, MMAWeekly.com reported Leben’s desire to fight Silva – a fighter he personally has a tremendous amount of respect for.
“(He) would like to reiterate his desire to compete against a legend of the sport and personal hero of his in Wanderlei Silva,” Leben’s manager, Gary Ibarra, said about his client.
UFC 132 also includes a bantamweight title fight between champion Dominick Cruz and former featherweight title holder Urijah Faber. The title bout is slated to be the main event on the card.
MMAWeekly.com will continue to follow up on more UFC 132 bouts as more information becomes available.

This fight was brought up a while back, and I still haven't made up my mind. I've been thinking Leben's left may win this fight since I saw it announced, but my heart wants to see Wanderlei do well.

This makes me cum in my pants. 2 guys that just wanna kill, kill, kill. Dont count out Leben he delievers one of the most powerful left hooks in the sport and Wanderlei has a questionable chin it might be hard for some to admitt but p4p Leben's hook is as dangerous as a CC highkick, a hook from Henderson or a hook from Rampage.

For some reason, this is making my Leben pick feel more like a winner.

I really hate to say this, but there is a strong chance Wandy gets KOd in brutal fashion by Leben. It will be a sad day in MMA, Silva needs to retire imo.

Based on what? He was competitive against Franklin and defeated Bisping - both of whom are far superior to Leben. Why do you think he's campaigned for this match?

Based on Leben being a big puncher and W.Silva being 50% of what he used to be. I hope he wins and he can still compete at 185 but I don't want to see him layed out by of all people Leben. You'd be stupid to count out Leben.

  12. Sick fight Could go either way. Both are seasoned veterens with fearless stand up. Wandy has the advantage of higher work rate.

how strange is it hearing that someone of lebens calibre asked for a fight with wanderlei. it kinda shows where wanderlei is at in the scheme of things.
good fight though. could be a barnburner

Has Wanderlei lost the fire? He says he doesn't have the sparring wars anymore, he has turned down Brian Stann and now it looks like he has turned down Vitor Belfort?!?!?!?!

Why the disregard for Leben? The guy is one of the UFC's most popular fighters and has probably the single hardest left hook in the division. Ill admit due to his inability to quit brawling he'll never make of to the top 5, he's a respectable fighter who showed his worth last year. Come on guys this is a great potential win for either.
