Has anyone else noticed ever since Wandy came to UFC he seems to have gave up on the muai thai clinch. Not claiming to have studied every ufc match of his, but besides the Jardine fight he hasn't seemed as ruthless as his Pride years and I couldn't figure out why. Its like he totally gave up on his knee strikes.
Consecutive ko's to Cro Cop and Hendo really had an effect on his ring smarts and he hasnt been the same fighter since. No idea if he has made a concious effort not to use the clinch anymore though
Wandy can't be aggressive and finish fights because he can't kick downed opponents and finish fights like in Pride..... thay and Wandy has been in so many wars against freaks twice his size..... won't see a fighter like Wandy again, regulations stop it.
I remember Wandy trying to control Chuck in the thai clinch, but Wand was unsuccessful. At middleweight I bet he will have more succsess, but like stoo said he is far less aggressive than he used to be back in pride.
Him and Shogun have both lost that brutality. However, they also can't soccer kick you after delivering those knees. Silva better use that clinch against Leben if he wants a KO seeing as how knees are the only thing to rock Leben. I don't think Silva will want to stand and trade hooks with him.
