Makes sense both those guys are near the top of the heap and close to a title shot.

I'd rather it be Thiago. Machida deserves the winner of Rampage/Griffin. I don't care if people think his style his boring, the man has a resume worthy of a title shot.

I agree, but it wouldn't surprise me if they make it as hard as possible for Machida to get near the title.

for sure he isn't exactly the most marktable guy even though he is a great fighter.

I may be the biggest Wand fan here. I worry about a matchup with Machida, since Machida is so defensive and focused on counters. Wand doesn't seem to take punches he doesn't see comming very well, Machida is very good at not setting and landing.. Whether he has power or not, he tends to land frequently with shots his opponents are not expecting.. Wand can take a huge shot if he sees it, has freakish recovery, but also busts up rather easily..

On the other hand.. Wand poses some serious threats to Machida.. Since Machida isn't hugely powerful, its quite possible he will stick to his chess match and focus on winning via decision.. The thing is, Wand is a good finisher from the second he starts a fight, to the second the fight ends.. The more times Machida tries to strike, the more times Wand will look to exchange, and the more likely he lands a huge shot on Machida, and the more likely Machida gets knocked out.. Wand is plenty dangerous and plenty aggressive, seems to fight better confused at times and is great at exploiting a moment in a fight to turn it into a victory for himself. ****, I love vintage Wand. Cant wait to see his next fight, win or lose.

Dude, Machida will NOT backpedal against Wanderlei. He will turn around and run. Last fight reminded me of Kaleb Sterns or w/e his name was. With occasional karate type strike outbursts. He would be worse champion then Tim Sylvia.

I love Wandy, but I really, really don't see him beating Lyoto. T Silva has a style that might play into his hands somewhat. Lyoto? The most tactically aware guy in the game? Wandy is far too predictable to trouble him too much, imo.

Machida will make Wandy look old and shitty, just like he does everyone else. If they have half a brain they will put him against Thiago to strike when the iron is hot.

I have watched silva fight many times. I predicted Chuck would beat him. Silva is like an animal no brain just pure emotion and instinct. Machida could out think him and counter him all day long. Machida will tap him out at the appropriate time.

Who are you to judge what is a good champion are not? If Machida keeps winning with his style that is good. He is not there to please you. He is there to win fighting is 90% mental anyway.

The best match up would be Chuck and Machida both smart and tactical. Interesting for those of us who have an IQ above plant life.
